 The Beat Boxing Pirates' self-titled debut album.
The Beat Boxing Pirates are a 5 member group of like minded individuals (Mike Sheehan, Mike Sheely, J. Alex Murray {BLANK SPACE}, Scott Towson {strong cottonwoods} & Andrew DaSilva {Dragon}). We all share common ground of music, and in this case we shared perspectives through hip hop, spoken word, sound poetry, beatboxing and freestyling. We all found ourselves living together in a space that Shayne (Shayne Avec i Grec; Vic Slam Team '05) & Scott had been renting since Jan '05. The Poet Pad was the residence of the Beat Boxing Pirates (Including the guest pirate Charlie {Headcase})
These tracks are mainly all jams and freestyles, but they are the "so-called" best (from our biased persepective). Three or four pieces are rehersed, yet the phat vocal beats are always improv!
This was completely recorded and produced in Victoria, BC.
This Disc is actually a DOUBLE DISC. But only if you get it from us directly (mail or in person). The 2nd Disc is a Bonus Booty Data Disc that holds 4 of our independent albums, the musik video for "Tommorow always comes", Art, Photo's, DIY propaganda, Links and refrences as well as what ever the hell we can think of. It is an evolving process when you HAND MAKE EVER PACKAGE! So even though you get the tunes here for free, please continue to support self expression and sustainablity the ways that you do.... and buy our CD from us in person if you get the chance.

The OUTSPOKEN WORDSMITHS are: Blank Space, strong cottonwoods & Dragonboy -- a trio of neo-radical independent artists who've emerged from the manicured lawns of homogenized North American Society. We're currently travelling across Canada to perform (A fusion of beat boxing harmonix and Anarcho-Hippy-Hop/Spoken-Word/ sound poetry), inspire, network & share art.
This is a 16 song, debut album we peiced together from past recordings and current jams (half 'n' half.)
It was released as 60 promo CDs to give away at the 2005 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word (The Outspoken Wordsmiths make 3/5ths of the Victoria '05 Slam Team alongside Heather and Shayne {Shayne Avec i Grec}) and turned out that we must have wanted to continue making the cases, and plus, we all liked having a group CD to share while out in the street. In the end (before we left Vic for tour, Jan 1st '05) we hand made 500 Cases and labels and stickers (we're still working on it) over the 2 previous months. EVERY CASE IS HAND MADE and stamped or stenciled!! So even though you get the tunes here for free, please, if you want to, email us to get one of the hand made cases and stickers mail ordered to you.
