"Leah-Carla Gordone is a powerful, authentic singer who lives her music by voicing her convictions through her passionate, poetic songs. In a way, she's a throwback to the best traditions of the sixties, but she simultaneously leads the cutting edge of the new millennium for those who appreciate music as substance rather than style and hope for it to 'light the way.'" - Peter Yarrow (Peter, Paul & Mary)

"From her very first song, 'Let it Flow', NYC - born Leah-Carla Gordone shows you what she's all about right up front: Passion...Gordone mesmerizes the audience...On stage, Gordone's style is not unlike that of Ani DiFranco, yet there is something more raw about her presence...Ani DiFranco might have a lot of balls, but Leah-Carla Gordone is the whole package." - Stacy E. Lukasavitz, femmusic.com

Leah-Carla Gordone is a powerful vocalist... sometimes reminiscent of other strong female singers, including Patti Smith, Melissa Etheridge and Grace Slick, but more often she is working on her own, highly identifiable sound (Kingston NY Freeman Preview).

Butterfly Child grabs you from the very beginning of its opening track (Rain Down) and carries you through its entire length. Leah-Carla's husky, yet smooth vocals and picture-painting lyrics will guarantee that this CD will find its way into anyone's CD collection. Aaron Childs, DJ, The Audio Realm, WCSR-FM, Hillsdale MI

Imagine naked poetry - exposed emotions, then lightly and carefully clothed in music. Leah-Carla embroiders her soul into her shadowy acoustic music and reveals songs that are musically touching and vocally emotive (1999 Boston NeMO Music Showcase Artist Review)

A fascinating new voice ... a quality to her singing shared by the greatest women singers, like Piaf, Joni Mitchell, Billie Holiday - a sense of emotional intimacy and confiding ... [She is] a rose creeping from fissures in graffiti-stained concrete - Woodstock Times.

Multi-talented young singer/songwriter/musician Leah-Carla Gordone has performed her own music from the East Village to Woodstock, from Boston to Key West to Los Angeles. She was one of 200 performers (selected from 1000 submissions) at Boston's 1999 NeMO Music Showcase and Conference. She is an Indiegrrl Approved Performer and is receiving airplay across the country.

LEAH-CARLA GORDONE IS "DANCING ON THE DRAGON"

Try describing vocals that exude a raw, sensual power but yet contain a soulful, fragile intimacy. You might be tempted to say, "Gwen Stefani meets Tracy Chapman". But only then would you begin to get a glimpse of what Leah-Carla Gordone is all about. Here is a young woman with an extremely unique vox and a riveting stage presence, but defining Gordone is beyond words. Play the music for starters. There is no comparison. Once in a very great while, someone comes along who sets the standard for a whole new category of music. She calls it, "Breaking new ground with a new sound for a new era".

Born and raised in the heart of New York City, Leah-Carla is the daughter of the late Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Charles Gordone. She began singing, acting, and dancing professionally as a child and went on to attend Fiorello H. Laguardia High School of Performing and the Arts as a drama major. As a Theater Arts major at SUNY New Paltz, she starred in the musical "Cabaret". She was selected to perform at Boston's NEMO Music Showcase and Conference and toured with "Indiegrrl" through seven states. She has performed three times at Columbus, Ohio's well-known annual COMFEST, a three-day festival of arts, crafts and music with five stages. She opened for Norah Jones and The Indigo Girls at Promowest Pavilion in Columbus, and recently was one of three performers selected to perform at the Global Entertainment and Media Summit (GEMS) in New York City.

Leah-Carla Gordone has just released her second full-length CD "Dancing On The Dragon". If the "dragon" represents the obstacles one must overcome in order to achieve a higher ground, Gordone seeks to make peace with the "dragon", and make her music dreams a reality. Her debut CD "Butterfly Child" captured her vibrantly unique and soulful voice, and let us glimpse her struggles and vision through lyrics that took you on an intensely personal journey. "Dancing On The Dragon" celebrates life and its challenging lessons.

From NYC, the Village (a regular at CBGB's, Bitter End, Mercury Lounge) to Woodstock (Joyous Lake, Tinker Street Cafe), from Boston to Key West, Los Angeles to London, Nashville, Chicago, New Orleans, and Columbus, OH, as a one-woman show or with her band, Leah-Carla Gordone sings and accompanies herself with a mean 12-stringed acoustic guitar that is black and bedazzled with butterflies and stars.

Gordone's single, "The Road", is currently being played on Hot A/C and Top 40 radio stations across the country.
