Title:
The Purpose of the Animal |
Mr. Rose is less a band and more a one-man musical showcase. David Werba writes, produces, engineers, sings, and plays guitar, percussion, bass, synthesizer, cello, and French horn on this five track EP. Not a small feat for any musician. If you factor in the richness of sound and variety of textures and styles on this disk, it is even more impressive. Mr. Rose evokes the improvisational stylings and musicality of the late sixties. "Wild Monkey" is a hippie guitar pop ride through the influences of late sixties jam bands. The later, and slower paced, songs evoke the moody eeriness of Darkside of the Moon era Pink Floyd with spacey guitars and floating vocal echoes.
