If you ever get a chance to hear Goddamn Doghouse by Ken Cormier, you should do so. He doesn't have a website or anything like that; the CD is from NE USA. It's got such a breadth of musical styles as to leave me constantly interested. The time signatures constantly change, all within a dulcet ambience. In short, big thumbs up. Worth trying to find.

Anything by Pink Floyd. I'm really on a Pink Floyd kick this week.

There'a bunch of songs that hit the spot for me, but it changes a lot. Currently, one song that's hit a spot for me is "SHout It Out Loud" by KISS. I just love how the chords within the guitars mingle together. It's so upbeat and danceable. I wonder if anyone else'll agree with me on this one.

It's weird, I never thought I'd love a song by The Killers, but "All These Things That I've Done" has been played a lot by me of late. Indeed, that one is pretty awesome. I have found the Queens of the Stone Age song "Little Sister" to be pretty kick-butt as well. Plus, "Hard To Explain" by The Strokes and "Your Beauty is a Knife I Turn On My Throat" by Eagle*Seagull (a hot new band you must look into).

I hear ya on that one.

I was just listening to the Royal Tanenbaum's (spelling) soundtrack yesterday and it's got three great artists on it all in one!

Elliot Smith
Nick Drack
Bella and Sebastian

Gotta love it!

Well, looking over the posts- yes.. I would have to agree on anything by Pink Floyd- but not when I am in too depressed a mood- it becomes too much. Shout it out loud- DEFINITELY as a BIG fan of KISS I would have to say that this is one of their best all-around anthems!
When I am in need of music that will lift my spirits and feel good about rock n' roll again- I've been listening to some old, live J. Geils band- "Must've got lost" is a classic, but the entire live presence of the band- very upbeat.. great stuff!
After a tough day at work I've often times listened to Miles Davis- "Kind of Blue" cd- somehow it is "lyrical" even though it is all instrumental/jazz.
Miles found some way to reach deep into your heart with his horn- his playing was passionate, beautiful and challenging all at the same time. I've oftentimes played the first song on this cd "So What" on guitar- just to unwind. To be able to take simple notes- and transform them into pure emotion and connect with the listener on some deeper level- I think this is one of the most coveted abilities of many a musician- and Miles HAD IT -HANDS DOWN!
