My personal opinion on profanity in music is if the song warrants it and it fits good it belongs......No matter how it's used....To shock, sadden, amaze, whatever....If you don't like it...Don't listen to it is my motto.....I don't care to much for a lot of music out there but I don't call it names and whatnot because just because I may not like it, it still means something to someone else out there and someone else can relate to it.....

Besides.........THEY'RE JUST WORDS.......

They don't make ya weak or feeble and whatever else folks may say.....Look at Linkin Park....They don't swear in any of their stuff....And it rocks....And then look at Limp Biskit.....I love the tune 'BREAK S!@#'....Very energetic tune there....

In this day and age that's the way emotion is communicated and conveyed by some....and well....Sometimes it works...Sometimes not....

Music is all about the relating to someone to let that one person know that you feel their pain (or happiness or whatever) and if you can make that one person jump around and go crazy.....It don't matter what words you use....It's worth it in that moment!!!!!!!!!

This is my opinion on swearing in music.......Sometimes it just plain feels good to scream F@$K!

I'm becoming this
all I want to do

they have a new singer now i guess and the sound is diff....Still rock/hip hop stuff but has a grungier sound and feel.....I dunno...I heard the new one for the first time today(I may be behind the times as I listen to a lot of cd's in my car and such...radio only when I am in a car with no cd) so I can't make a firm descision or review of it....it's ok for a first listen tho....

I don't swear anyway - so I don't have to make the choice myself.

People who don't swear - may be repulsed by your music if it's got swear words in it. People that do swear will like a good song - no matter what else is in it.

e.g.:

So if your target audience was a pool of 100 people...then you decide to throw in the swear word...you'll lose a few...I don't have real statistics but lets say you lose 20...now your target audience is only 80 people.

But - don't swear...and your target audience stays at 100.
Even if your whole audience likes songs with swearing - those same people will like a good song without swearing...then perhaps your adience will grow.

My lowly advice: Don't do it. Wink

Yes, but in deathmetal you would swear because you already know your audience doesn't care. Also, you want to express a point.
