Hi everyone,
We are excited to announce that we are getting ready to launch the MUSE Campaign and website. Which means that soon we will have a home for you to upload your environmental songs. After many months of trying to solve a variety of technical issues in order to complete our website, we anticipate that coolourplanet.org will be up in the next few weeks.
Calling In Your Songs. Write, sing, record . . .
We have a new partnership forming with Step It Up 2007, an organization started by the noted environmental writer, Bill McKibben. www.stepitup2007.org is planning hundreds of rallies in the U.S. on April 14th, demanding that Congress make global warming a top priority immediately.
Already, there are over 200 events planned in 43 states across the country, and they haven't officially launched yet. Plus we are talking with them about inspiring local concerts, how to bring live music to the rallies, etc. It is a new alliance, and we are just now discussing ways to make the rallies ring-out with music. We will keep you posted.
For now, the objective is to get as many global warming/environmental songs recorded as soon as possible. Step It Up is ready for your music now. If you already have a recorded song and would like it to be used as part of Step it Up 2007, send it to coolourplanet@gmail.com.
And the MUSE campaign website will be ready soon enough. You will hear from us as soon as coolourplanet.org is ready to upload music to our site.
Everyone else who has pledged a song, please take the time to write and record. Let the earth be your MUSE! There's going to be lots of opportunities to be heard. Your music contributions are a vital part of building a worldwide Stop Global Warming movement.
Thanks to everyone who sent us your songs already. We want to acknowledge all the people who came forward in the beginning, pledged songs, offered to do benefit concerts (now we're ready!), and who have volunteered to help us in any way. Thank-you again. And, for those who have been asking, we are still planning compilations.
To briefly share other progress made in the last year: we are officially a 501(3)(c) and can receive tax-deductible donations, and we have a wonderful, dedicated Advisory Board.
I could go on and on about how many incredible people have volunteered, many of whom are waiting to do their jobs once we launch the MUSE campaign, with your music, at the coolouplanet.org website.
We want to be clear that we do not have the man/woman power to respond to all e-mail questions. Our small core staff is using all available time to develop and launch the MUSE campaign and the website, etc. Please do not be offended if you write and do not get a letter in return. We will do our best, but thank-you for your patience and understanding.
If every musician in the world writes a song to stop global warming, the world will listen.
Yours truly,
Mark Josephson, director
Debra Josephson, co-director
Jason Orr, creative director

Thom Yorke:
I think sometimes all the charities are doing is mopping up the blood. It's a shame.

The United States is a nation of laws: badly written and randomly enforced.

You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.
Beck
I'm the artist formally known as Beck. I have a genius wig. When I put that wig on, then the true genius emerges. I don't have enough hair to be a genius. I think you have to have hair going everywhere.

I don't stand for the black man's side, I don' t stand for the white man's side. I stand for God's side. |
