Hey my name is Sam and I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I've been meaning to get a puppy, but I'm not sure what type of dog i want. Anyone have suggestions?

| I like mixed breeds. I have two. The oldest, Gino, is 12 and he was a stray that found us. We think he is mainly a black and tan coon hound. We bred him with a Rottweiler mix and we kept the runt. Our runt, Conzie, weighs in at about 100 pounds and he's a total lap dog. They bring us a great deal of joy. Welcome! |

I have a brindle pitbull and a pug. The pug will eat you for lunch, the pitbull will lick you to death until otherwise commanded. Maybe she is just tasting you first? Naw... Pitbulls are lover babies.
Dogs ROCK!

How much energy do you have?
My last dog was a geman shepherd and she was awesome, intelligent, loyal, great with kids. Easy to train. |

I like Shepard's, all dogs really. The only thing I don't like about them is many of them are barkers. Pitbulls discriminate when it comes to barking, that is why I am such a fan. Besides that, we live in a major city with home invasions and all that. If they can get passed my 100 pound pitbull, then I get to finish them off! Lovely! Yeah!
Not everyone should have a dog though, unless you have time for them. That is one aspect that I think needs to be pointed out. They are not self service and need strict guidelines and lots of attention. I am with mine 24/7/365 because I do my business from home. Of course, they have no idea that any other life exists, but I feel for dogs that get left alone 8 hours a day and a pat on the head once in awhile. They are extremely socially oriented, and you are their Alpha leader. So when you are gone, their life probably feels useless and lonely. If you are not able to spend quality time every day with a needy animal, then dogs are not good. Not for busy people.
If you want a low maintenance animal, get a cat. Cats rock! I love cats. Had them most of my life and they can take you or leave you. That is why they used to call musicians Cool or Hip Cats back in the day. We are cat-like, nocturnal and independent. Cats rule. Especially for busy people. And they are lovely wonderful creatures.
