Do people compare you/your band to other artists and groups?

I have a strange idea on how to promote your Music Forte Site.

Let's say for example, that people compare you to George Strait.

I have a page where I sell his CDs thru Amazon.com --

You tell me what people say about You and George, and I add that info to my sales page for George.

Then, when people Google the name George Striat, they just might find YOUR link to Music Forte...............

Garth Brooks, George Strait CDs at Amazon.com

Some people say I sound a bit like Willie Nelson, but it is probably more that some of my songs are in an Americana Country vein.

I've been watching the start of the new season of American Idol. Have you noticed how they ask people who they sound like and then you hear someone screaching and howling as they do their rendition of a Mariah Carey song and the only thing it sounds like is noise? I almost went off on a tangent here and will stop. Yes, this is a great marketing idea mate and it will work, I have no doubt.

Wouldn't it be easier for people to search by musicians they like (if they want to search more specifically then genre type) rather then the musician they sound like? Sounding like someone sounds like you have no originality.
I guess there are people out there who want more of the same, but I wouldn't want to say that I sound like someone else.

Many Musicians would agree with you.
Many also don't want to 'label' their music with a genre.
But you guys are on the creative side of music.
You think of your music as art not as a product.
Many of the buying public don't even know what genre means.
And if they search for Jazz ? How many 1000s of pages come up?
But they do know they like the kind of stuff they heard Carrie Underwood do- so they search for her.

"Wouldn't it be easier for people to search by musicians they like"
That's what I am saying- They search for Garth Brooks and find info on other country artists they have never heard of.

A lot of people have said that we remind them of Massive Attack.
Massive Attack is one of our influence but I don't think we sound like them at all.

I sound like a tree falling in the forest. If there is no one to hear it, does it make a sound?

Hell yes... And those damn squirrels better get out of my way!

Well I have been told we sound like the bands of the 1960's and early 1970's with the vocals somewhat like Peter Noone from Hermans Hermits or Gary Lewis from Gary Lewis and the Playboys.I have no problem with the comments we get of this sort.Rock on. Cool

I used to love the Herman Hermits! Don't know why. The 60's were the afterglow of the totally lame 50's sound, aside from Grandfather Chuck B., and a couple of Elvis tunes that weren't "whitebread" sounding.

I was totally into the Monkee's until I found out they were fake. Norman Greebaum and Cream introduced me to the sound I would learn to love always... Fuzzy, crunchy hardcore guitar.

Still love "Spirit in the Sky," and upon thinking about it extensively, I would have to say that is my favorite song of all time. It introduced me to hard rock.

Otherwise, I sound like a gaseous mixture passing through the walls of an orifice, at first creating pressure and resolving within a vacuum.

I sound like a child riding his Bigwheel on a $3000 hardwood floor, it pisses you off, but it is so damn cute!

Give me a hug...
