Did you get the latest version of the software? There's a link. I use a br-532.....Uses the same program. I will addmit it........A LOT of my recording is done on this machine. So if you like the sound of my stuff. It is probably 50-60% recorded on this little beast. I am getting a micro BR soon. Take a look at it. Any musician should have this at their disposal. Looks to be a cool little tool.

Let us know if you get it woking.

Sam

PS doesn't it ask you were to save the file? "Roland"........ Is that what you named the file to save in?

how do you use that program??? 3 of the things are lit of green. ive tried to export and to import.. sometimes my light changes to orange... and when i click a white box it turns to read cause theres nothing there....

when i get them orange.. and i hit go.. i pop up a window that says

NEVERMIND I THINK I GOT IT FOR NOW Smile

Did you get an owners manual? If not get one. You can download it from Rolandus.com. You will have to set up an account. If you already have one read it. It doesn't really take to long to figure it all out if you have some kind of instructions. Don't try to jump into recording on that machine from scratch. It will do a ton. You just have to learn it first. There are v-tracks on those machines that give them a lot of possibilities. They are very hard to understand unless you read how it all works.

I assume you are asking if you can edit the tracks on the computer. You have to have other programs to do that. I use Cubase made by Steinberg, to mix on the computer. I use Wavelab also made by Steinberg to master, and convert to mp3 wma whatever... So far I haven't found anything I like better.

Any other questions......just ask.

Man, I got the book... but its like an inch thick... trial and error seems half easier!!

I am looking to see if I can find the free trials of the editing tools you are using.. seeow well they work.

Thanks for the info Smile

I have a Micro-BR..... LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!! (Oh, did I say I love it????)

Ummmmm need more info. If you have everything set up and panned, then go to bounce it all, does the bounced track have panning? You have to mix down to 2 tracks for stereo panning. Are you bouncing to 2 tracks?

Then when you export to the computer....... Same thing. You have to select 2 tracks.

Or....... it's entirely possible that I don't understand your question.....
Are you trying to put the 4-track recording (all four separate tracks.) on the computer? If you do that. You will have to pan again in whatever software you are using.

If I can be more help, or you want to clarify exactly what you're trying to do let me know.

My husband recently purchased a BR864 and has recorded a song that he wants to transfer to the computer to put on CD. However when we plug the BR into the computer nothing happens. Its supposed to automatically detect the hardware but doesn't. We are running XP service pack 2. I have tried different cords and different ports. What am I missing?

I don't know......... But, maybe you need the software installed. (Did you already do that?) There may be a driver or something inside the program. (Again.... I don't know. I've never had this problem.)

http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.aspx?dsection=d_downloads&ObjectId=571

BR wav converter 2.0 Is the one you want. Download it, install it, and maybe........

Also try rebooting the system. Anytime I have have recognition problems, I usually have been able to solve it by rebooting windows.

Another option is try using a card reader. (If you have one.)

Once you get the tracks on the computer, you'll need some sort of mixing program. (unless your just going for a 2 track mix.)

Free software is available...... Kristal (I think that is how it is spelled. Too lazy to go look it up myself...... Rolling Eyes ) is the best free one I've run across. Also Audacity........ (You'll just have to make up your own mind on what they do and what you need.)

Hope you get it worked out. Boss recorders are awesome. I could not live without my Micro-BR. It's one of my favorite tools.

...well don't "I" feel like a ditz. Hi everybody. I'm Jody, and I'm new here. I got a BR-600 last year, and have "yet" to figure out most of it. I mostly use it for the different guitar effects when I'm foolin' around. Some are pretty cool. But anything outside of that, I'm dead in the water. I also don't have a power supply, although the battery life seems to be sufficient with the amount of time I use it. Anyway, if anybody's interested, I could be talked into letting it go. I'm just not "getting" it.

Don't give up on it yet. Figure it out. Read the manual. It does a ton of stuff.

If you took the time to understand it, you'd fall in love with it.

On the other hand......... Not everyone wants to know everything about everything. (That's just my little quirk. Embarassed ) Some people just want to be a guitarist or singer or....... whatever. To each their own, I guess? But...... If you want to get into understanding recording, I can't think of a better machine to learn on.

You can decide for yourself, that's up to you. But, I said it before........

I can't live without my little portable recorder. It is a must for me.

I would also suggest to anyone looking into a little recorder.......

The Micro-BR. It can replace your mp3 player, be a tuner be a metronome,...... Oh yeah, and you can record with it for about $230.

I'm not selling the things..... I just won't ever be without one.

Hey, thanks Drummerboy! I appreciate the advice; and I "do" in fact, still have the manual. It just all seems to overwhelming sometimes. And this is coming from someone who love to read. Go figure.
Anyway, I think I'll fall back into trying to read the manual. It could probably help me a great deal.
Speaking of Roland, I sure do wish they still made the DR-5. That thing had some really nice drum sounds. And the string section was "killer"!

Hey, I went by and gave your tunes a listen. NICE! Good quality recording. Did you do all of the mixing/mastering? What all did you play. (yeah, there's five songs...... you don't have to list it all....... Just the basic tracks that were performed? Not the programmed stuff.)

And what is the effect on the vocals in "Something Serious?" A vocoder? Is it a stand alone unit or software? Cool sounds.

Maybe stick with the recording process you're using now. But, I'd still suggest figuring out the BR for on the spot "hury and put down the idea on tape" kind of moments.

Thanks Sam. Yes, as a matter of fact, I did do all the recording, mixing, bouncing, mastering, etc. And your compliment means alot to me, because a year or two ago, I knew absolutely nothing about mixing, mastering, etc. I'm still learning stuff everyday. I played all the guitar parts, bass, keyboard, and some percussion instruments. The rest of the stuff was programmed. And of course, I did all the vocals as well. I have to. I haven't had any luck in starting a band where I am, or even a group of guys to jam with. So, it's all me in my little home studio, all by my lonesome. I wrote all the tunes as well; the music, and the lyrics. For the robotic vocals on "Something Serious", I just use a talkbox. I have to run it with my guitar, though, as the keyboard I have is just a dummy. Like me! Wink
