Which mike makes your hands sweat the most and sings the sweetest in your ears?
I use both capacitator as well as condensor mics.
They have their pros and cons depending of the instruments that your are
recording and the room/ outdoor setting that you have to work with.
Later-
KILLER mics?
Shure
Neumann
R0DE Classic
Blue Cactus

I'm about to pick up a Rode NT2A. Pretty decent and for the price a lot of features. Also checking into a KSM 27 Shure. Right now I'm using a low low low end CAD GXL 2400 for vocals. It sounds pretty dang good as far as I've tested it. The same day I picked up an ART MP STUDIO something...Pre amp. $30 at Musicians friend. (A little noisy for anything other than a mic, but the cheap mic through the cheap pre was priceless!!! (NO, no really, It almost was!)) The high price point mics really only sound good if you team them up with a high end pre-amp. (so I've heard anyway.) There's no way I'll ever own a U-87. I think that is a bit pricey. Plus I don't like the frequency response. (My own personal opinion.) I think the sounds that I'm looking for aren't typical so I'll do it "My Way" (shameless plug)I've also read a lot of good stuff about Sennheiser. I will probably look at those a little more seriously in the future.
You gotta put in the time and test them all. (I shopped for about 3 months before I decided that the CAD was what I was after. I had about 3 times the money, but That little CAD was the perfect sound so ......) Check them all and make a decision that suits what you need.
As for what makes my hands sweat......... Any mic that costs more than my drumset makes me a little nervous. Get nervous, hands sweat........Mic drops to the floor. (Not a good combination.) I'll stick to the less pricey stuff THANKS! And...... It's not always what you've got but, how you use it. That is the bottom line.
Sam
PS What are you using Taylor? |
