Whoa- tough one! I'm guessing Bonnie Raitt- I remember she had a lot of awards some time ago. hold on- let me get the cd..(lol) ok.."Luck of the Draw" -came out in '91 so I'm thinking awards for '92 - song?? Jeezz..ok..probably "Something to talk about". and for bonus points the guitar used is a Fender Strat.
(not sure if I am right or not)
If so- my next question- who wrote the song "I'm a Believer" ?
(and bravo for getting Gene Simmon's real name!!) |

Good hint.
Freiheit - Keeping the dream alive
Tonight the rain is falling
Full of memories of people and places
And while the past is calling
In my fantasy I remember their faces
The hopes we had were much too high
Way out of reach but we have to try
The game will never be over
Because we're keeping the dream alive
I hear myself recalling
Things you said to me
The night it all started
And still the rain is falling
Makes me feel the way
I felt when we parted
The hopes we had were much too high
Way out of reach but we have to try
No need to hide no need to run
'Cause all the answers come one by one
The game will never be over
Because we're keeping the dream alive
I need you
I love you
The game will never be over
Because we're keeping the dream alive
The hopes we had were much too high
Way out of reach but we have to try
No need to hide no need to run
'Cause all the answers come one by one
The hopes we had were much too high
Way out of reach but we have to try
No need to hide no need to run
'Cause all the answers come one by one
The game will never be over
Because we're keeping the dream alive
The game will never be over
Because we're keeping the dream alive
The game will never be over

Polk salad looks somethin like a turnip green.
White Tony Joe Lyrics - Polk Salad Annie Lyrics
If some of ya'll never been down South too much...
I'm gonna tell you a little bit about this, so that you'll understand
What I'm talking about
Down there we have a plant that grows out in the
woods and the fields,
looks somethin' like a turnip green.
Everybody calls it Polk salad. Polk salad.
Used to know a girl that lived down there and
she'd go out in the evenings and pick a mess of it...
Carry it home and cook it for supper, 'cause that's about all they had to eat,
But they did all right.
Down in Louisiana Where the alligators grow so mean
There lived a girl that I swear to the world Made the alligators look tame
Polk salad Annie polk salad Annie
Everybody said it was a shame
Cause her mama was working on the chain-gang
(a mean, vicious woman)
Everyday 'fore supper time She'd go down by the truck patch
And pick her a mess o' Polk salad And carry it home in a tote sack
Polk salad Annie 'Gators got you granny
Everybody said it was a shame
'Cause her mama was aworkin' on the chain-gang
(a wretched, spiteful, straight-razor totin' woman,
Lord have mercy. Pick a mess of it)
Her daddy was lazy and no count
Claimed he had a bad back
All her brothers were fit for was stealin' watermelons out of my truck patch
Polk salad Annie, the gators got your granny
Everybody said it was a shame
Cause her mama was a working' on the chain gang
(Sock a little polk salad to me, you know I need a mess of it
THAT WAS A TOUGH ONE!! (maybe we should have another post where we put a line or two of lyrics- popular or slightly obscure and ask folks to guess the song and/or artist)
Ok- NEXT QUESTION.
The 80's supergroup Asia was made up of members of different legendary bands- name at least 2 of these bands. |

Sorry Noel, I guess that it would be YOU- but I'm not really sure who has the most! Anyhow- this post has been dead for FAR too long- I decided to open it back up and ask easier questions so we can get more people to play!
Ok- easier question- WHAT CLASSIC ROCK SONG IS ABOUT A HOTEL FIRE?
(BIG HINT- IT'S PROBABLY ONE OF THE FIRST SONGS STARTING GUITARISTS LEARN TO PLAY!) |

How about another hint on your question? Who sang it. |

If I said who sang it- I might as well say the song.. it's one of those things where you here the artist/band name and this song comes to mind. But I WILL say that the artist/band name has a color in the title.
Hint?? Hmmm ... notes of song/ progression in order (in key of E major,) E, G, A, E, G, B-flat, A.
Hint #2- it's probably one of the ONLY songs (as far as I know- which ain't saying much,) that mentions "Frank Zappa and the Mothers" and is NOT a Zappa tune.
I really cannot divulge much more other than it is a hard rock song, it practically PUT fm radio on the map, it's one THE ABSOLUTE first songs that any budding young guitarist tries to play. (go sit in a guitar shop for a couple hours on a Saturday- you will here this song repeatedly!) |
