hmmm....
I'd say understand the difference between head voice and falsetto.
They are very different sounds. And if you are able to explore the "head" voice and develop that strongly, you might find that you have range you never knew existed without having to move into a Barry Gibb type sound.
Either way, vocal warm-up IS important. No matter your age, warming up will strengthen your voice. Buy a warm-up tape and exercise daily. |

| So...Is there someone who sings who can tell me some warm up exercises, or voice exercises without me having to buy a tape or video? |

I used to play piano for the cast of Miss Saigon, and when we went through vocal warm-ups, we'd do what is pretty much a standard routine:
Major scales using the 1-3-5 moving up in half-steps and then back down in half steps.
ex:
C-E-G
Db-F-Ab
D-F#-A
Of course, this should be in a comfortable vocal range for you.
Vowel and consonants were practiced...
Aaah's and Oooh's and everything in between.
Singing major scales was important:
C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C
The important factor was to make the breaking point in the voice as seamless as possible. The transition between chest and head voice, and head voice and falsetto needed to be very natural.
I don't know if that's the kind of answer you're hoping to receive, but take it and go with it, because it is healthy warm-up. |
