We actually opened officially on Friday the 7th of Dec. These statistics are a screen capture from Sunday the 9th at 9:19 pm

Click Picture to enlarge.

We had (4) Podcast downloads total. The show has been submitted to major podcast distribution outlets such as Feedburner, etc. The number of "subscriptions" from these services are people who will get the new show every time it comes on the air. These are the numbers (subscriptions) that we are hoping to increase because these are return listeners.

I am not unhappy with 200+ listens to the show for what little advertising that has been done so far. Currently, I am sending out over 1000 personal invites a week or more beginning this morning. The response has been pleasing, but not intense at this point.

Monday is the best day of the week for the Internet. Statistically, from my own experience, this is what I have learned. Friday and Saturday are dead all summer, in the winter there is an increase on those days. Sunday picks up and it peaks Monday evening, as it trails off the rest of the week.

I have decided to do two shows instead of one. This may not happen until this week is finished because I don't even have a scheduled co-host for Monday's taping. I have some prospects, but I will have a show regardless. Carrying a show solo is no issue for me.

The first show - Haters Need Love Two - With the artist as co-host, will be on the air from Sunday Through Wednesday. These are the best days to be in rotation and on the air, so the most motivated artists should want that slot.

Thursday through Saturday I will run a show with a co-host from any walk of life that seems interesting, has a story or cause they stand behind. I just got an email today from the Lutheran Lesbian Society, and I sent back an invite for their appearance on the show. This is what I am shooting ofr... Cool people, interesting lifestyles, etc.

There will still be a rotation on those days because the format will be pretty similar. Music artists can still get some airtime, but those are less attractive slots. This may change, depending on when people get interested in the show itself, it may carry good numbers all week in 6 months or a year.

Just thought you would like to know what the listening audience potential can be at You Rock Radio - http://yourockblock.com

Again my page visit and play totals continue to go up more than ever daily here at MF, The visitors aren't playing any one particular song"even though it would be nice to get 200 plays on one particular song" however and I'll get back with the exact numbers I am well over 100 individual plays since I got on the yourockblock train.

Nice...Very Happy

Well, that will taper down this week as the new show comes on line and your show matures. In the future those numbers could be staggering. Like 10,000 views, hits, listens!

I anticipate about a year, like I said, but let me play with numbers here.

Let's see...

You have three people on the show for each show. Starting in (2) weeks we will have two shows a week.

If each of those (3) people on each show asked (10) people to listen to their air time, and on average every person knows (10), they could recommend the show to.

3x10=30

30x10=300

300x10=3000

3000x10=30,000

30,000x10=300,000 listeners per show

(2) shows a week

600,000 listeners a week!

That is what made the big sites as big as they are today. 220+ Million on Myspace alone, and this is how that happened... Word of mouth!

If a "friend" recommends a pizza joint, you are more likely to eat there than if you see a TV commercial.

That is only one aspect of a listening audience growth factor. If you had 600,000 people listening do you think you might sell 10,000 CD's or downloads? Who knows. I don't have that answer, but the chances increase with every new listener.

Our numbers are not anywhere near those described above. And I am not going to blow smoke up your butt and promise that this will ever happen. But is does, and it can. I would like it too, and I think it would be great for everyone involved.

I wanted to take the time to show you what is happening for the You Rock Radio Show from a promotion standpoint. This is the work I do for you when you are on the show as co-host, although rotation artists benefit too.

There is the show itself, of course. On the the site http://yourockblock.com there is a link right under your name. That will get you direct hits on your site.

Saturday Afternoon I screen captured this:

Sunday evening this:

The components behind this are mysterious to some degree, but I can explain.

Every time I do a show I put you up on numerous MySpace "Fan" sites that I have, and I do 100 friend requests a day on those. On these "Fan" sites, I have the Music Forte Player with your showcase song on it. These are not going to contribute to direct "plays" on your page. Why? Because in order to have your song featured up front, and your song only, I have to download the song and upload to the http://www.musicforte.com/member/yourockradio page on my profile. You will not get direct plays, but it will chart you. It may screw up the charts though, and that is an issue that Greg and the boys and myself will discuss if that happens. Here is a sample page from a "Fan" Site:

Click to Enlarge Pic

Of course, your link to your profile is there also, so that may get you hits on your songs.

This morning, I talked to Greg and since they are dropping the RSS feed program as a per fee type of program, I will create a profile for you at http:yourockblock.com and submit your music automatically to podcast feeds around the world. This is, in part and parcel, payment for your music contribution to the show (royalties).

I will be doing a lot more, and Greg has touched bases with me on some exciting stuff that Music Forte is doing. So if the RIAA wants to sue me... Bring it on! I can document all of the perks you attain from being on You Rock Radio. A lawsuit would just be publicity, and that is fine with me.

The difference a day makes...

Yesterday, I Yahoo'd up yourockradio and my page results were:

Click Pic To Enlarge

Today, less than 24 hours later:

Click Pic To Enlarge

Why is this important to you as an artist? Well... Look at the facts. Forum threads, including this one right here, are on the search results! If you post here, and put your band name, the name of one of your songs, your lead singers name. etc. It gets Googled and Yahoo'd up immediately!

Let me explain why that happens.

Yesterday, I took this screen capture:

Click Pic To Enlarge

On a Sunday night mind you, when most forums are dead in the wind, here at Music Forte we had 774 visitors. Out of those there were 41 registered guests (us members), leaving a balance of 732 guests.

Of the 732 "Guests" many of these are people reading your posts and topics. They are not posting themselves, but they were led here when they used Keywords in a search engine. Keywords are catch phrases or special words like "Music" "Band" "Indie" "Sex" "Drugs"... you get the idea. Not all of these 732 are actual people. Some of them are spiders that crawl the website and archive information, like your profile page. So get that profile up to date and make sure it represents you in a positive way.

So when you post, think this through. Think of how you want to be represented on search engines, because YOU ARE being watched!

Here is another interesting tool related to stats, and something I will do for you as an artist if you choose to have me create a website for you.

It is Google Analytics

Free service provided by the Goog, that can save you some dough AND give you numbers that you need to see if you have an effective music promo campaign, or if you need to improve your tactics.

This is a shot I just took of stats for You Rock Radio @ http://yourockblock.com just a minute ago:

Click to Enlarge Pic

As you can see, since we launched on the 7th that we have had 600 plus visits. This tool can really help you, as an artist, keep your numbers in prospective and keep your statistical charts on track!

If you have a site, check it out... Google Analytics.

How would I use this information that is there currently? OK, well you can see that my reach so far is the US and Alaska only. What does that tell me? That I need to look at some campaigns in other countries. I could explore RSS Podcast feeds in Canada or Europe, for instance.

That is what this data will help you do as an Independent artist. It will let you know who is listening and/or buying, and in what amounts. Then you can work on those areas of your promotion that need the most attention.
