I wrote a thread that gives you some insight on SEO (Search Engine Optimization), and the importance of thread posting at Music Forte and other websites on the Internet. Here:

I have been waiting to hit the first page on Google as You Rock Radio. I have been searching as yourockradio, but have not hit the first page as the latter, You Rock Radio.
Last evening, I submitted as RSS feed to: www.podcastingnews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9624 and they have a forum there, which I posted to. I did the whole promo with banner, etc.

I didn't think much of it when I did it. I still, as of yet, have had no replies from the members at that forum. But a funny thing happened:

Overnight, I got ranked on Google index for You Rock Block at #5! These guys have some good SEO stuff over there.
The point? Get into the habit of posting and linking here and other forums that you may be a member of. The more you post and link up, the more cross referencing goes on at the major search engines, the more chances you have to be promoted!
People do not use the address bar on a web browser. They use Google or Yahoo to type in your name or web address. What if you are on page# 1,876,659 ? Too bad, I guess. They will not be able to get to your site then.
Another GREAT IDEA is to post on blogs all over and make damn sure that wherever you post that you include a realistic reference to who you are. Many of you have signed up here with the name "slicksnotbuggerman" etc., when your band name is "Early to Rise" or something. It is too late to change that now, there is so much of your data in the database that it is impossible for Greg to change it all. BUT... You can add a link, and/or mention your band name in every post everywhere you post. Change your profile page name to who you are, not Mr. Bugger Eater, or whatever. It's cute and everything, but it does nothing to help you promote. Try to spell things correctly and don't post nonsense posts that have no promotional value. There is nothing wrong with the topic "What lead singer wears a sock in their pants on stage" as long as you post in a way that increases your worth to the forum community and search engines. More words are always better.
If you are in this game to make something happen, you must work at it like it is the most important thing you do every day. Otherwise... Hire someone else to do it.
