Who is the best Klezmer Band right now?
I have my own band, the Klezmerettes here in Jerusalem, Israel. We play old favorites from the 1920's with the orginial scores!

Klezmer music is usually thought of as Jewish Music that is played at Jewish Weddings! Most of the time it is happy music, with varied instruments, such as clarinet, trumpet, violin, saxophone and string bass.
In group, we use clarinet, flute, organit and bassoon. Most of the time the arrangements are transcribed from old records, but there exists some sheet music from the 1930's and more and more music is available on the 'Net.
When there is a good recording from one of my rehearsals of the Klezmerettes, I'll put it up on the music forte page.

Do you have to be Jewish to perform Klezmer music ?
Do you think someone could write a new Klezmer tune even if they weren't Jewish ? |
