I hope I put this in the right place ?

I thought while we were talking about what we like we could also talk about what we don't like or think is funny.

One of the weirdest singers and I don't know why he exist but maybe you like his singing ? Rod Stewart especially on his new Big Band song albums where he is cruning songs like They Can't Take that away from me.

Also his song about Maggie when he was young is kind of weird too.

My least favorite music? Music that is un-original. That may sound preachy or or cheesy or whatever but I think it makes sense. I never really respond to music where it's like, "well, I've heard that one before."

Oh, and "Rap Metal." Couldn't ever really makes sense of that.

There's this one chick whose recordings are just absolutely awful in every possible sense. The quality of the dub is bad. Her song writing is droning and repetitive...

Think

On second thought, I may have been a little too hard on her. She's actually got a pretty decent singing voice. The melodies that she does write are dulcet.

Something's wrong with my computer where everytime I hit "quote" it just submits the quoted post as my post... grumble... sorry for the messed-up post...

I don't know which bands fall in to the "rap metal" catagory, but I hope you didn't mean Rap-Core (rapping over harcore sounding guitars, bass and drums... I totally dig that stuff).

For me, what rubs me the wrong way is anything that speaks excessively about petty things (like material possessions or teenage boy/girl friend drama) or that glorifies drugs, sexual promiscuity and/or violence as some worth aspiring to.

Also, people with really bad singing voices -- especially whiny, nasal or strained singing. This is the number one reason I can't listen to the Beatles' original recordings. I like their music, but I can't stand their voices... they sound like pre-adolescent boys with stuffy noses -- and it's not just them, many boy-bands from that time time period (like the Monkeys) have that same, I guess signature, sound... don't like it... I just don't... you can tell me I'm nuts but I just don't like it...

I also have a somewhat unfounded aversion to country music. I haven't heard too many country songs I like... but I have heard a lot of covers of country music (and Beatles tunes for that matter) that I do like.

I'm probably going to get a lot of flack for admitting on a music forum that I'm not too keen on the Beatles. Oh well, at least I admit it... I don't hide it.

I heard once something like Dare to be different-Dare to be a Daniel and I appluad your honesty.

However I wanted to ask your opinion a of certain Monkee song called I'm Gonna Buy Me A Dog ? I found it quite funny and if I didn't like any other monkee song I would like that one.

I also wanted to know what you think of The Beatles song Rocky Raccoon ?

My Least Favorite Music

Unoriginal music is a bore - especially if it's lip synched by someone who didn't write it. Very Happy

It's like Mr. Phillips from Sun Records said to Johnny Cash, a song that come from deep someone's soul is the kind of song that changes lives. If you don't write your own music, and you don't even sing it live, the energy that you project is not going to be nearly as powerful as the energy an artist projects when they sing from their soul.

I don't listen to the radio at all, because it all sounds the same. It's like every single "hot new band" made the exact same record, and it's spinning eternally on KROQ.

And what about all those young men screaming out of key in that generic whiney "emo" voice? Get a personality of your own already!

(Lordy, don't get me started!)
