Actually, Keaggy is missing most of his middle finger on his strumming hand (see this picture http://philkeaggy.com/music/lightsofmadrid.jpg and FAQ http://www.museweb.com/keaggy/keaggy_faq.html#B2) but I do agree with you that he is an amazing guitarist.

I've seen him live several times and his "Philly Live" DVD is just as awe inspiring.

His early work with Glass Harp is not to be missed either.

There's a little known English guitarist called Nick Harper (son of Roy, who was big in the folk scene of the 1960s) who is well worth checking out. Those that know him rate him as an acoustic genius, but he doesn't get the attention he deserves in my view. Writes some great tunes, but he's best for his live performances, which just pack so much energy.

His site is www.harperspace.com - annoyingly, no mp3s, but if you want to take a risk and buy a CD without hearing it, I recommend his latest or the double live album for a real flavour of the man...

Oh, and he has this thing (suspend the cynic in you) where he breaks a string every gig and restrings his guitar while still singing the song... Pretty cool party trick...

Prince, most likely, because his guitar chops are all but obscured by his garish image and stage theatrics. But the guy is really talented....

One of the greatest guitarists ever is missing from your list. Criss Oliva, who was tragically killed by a drunk driver on Oct. 17 1993.

David Gilmour is the most under rated guitarest of all time. If you have ever listened to the song Dogs of the album Animals you will understand what i'm saying. he's sick. But scence Pink Floyd isnt know for its guitar he doesnt get alot of respect. But i think he's not only the most under rated, he is the BEST OF ALL TIME.

PINK FLOYD ROCKS

I know a lot of great guitarists who are studio musicians in the L.A. area: Mike O'Neill, J. Curtis. but the most underrated (nobody but a few die hards at Musicians Institute have heard of him) is Jean Marc Beldaki. He was signed to a big record company (studied under Joe Pass) but he has little bit of a french man's attitude (no offense) Embarassed .

P.S. I am not a boy.
