Independent artists have never had a leg up on the major's in their ability to protect their music. In most cases, people jump on to any file sharing network and "steal" the music they want to hear.

The difference is that as a lesser known artist., it is less likely that people are searching to steal your music.

There is no ultimate solution. If somebody wants your music badly enough and doesn't want to pay 99 cents or the price you have set, they will find a way to steal it.

Our plan involves audio watermarking. All sample files will be layered with a voice-over "sample" comment. The actual purchase file will be completely hidden unless it is purchased, and will not use a permanent URL location.

This is the highest amount of protection that I can currently think of. The date of implementation is currently not available. There will be an announcement regarding this and other changes in the near future.

At the end of the day, we'll be doing ourselves a favor if we all stop supporting piracy by using apps, utilities and sites that support it.
