Does anyone have any preferences or known experiences with music copyright agencies? Companies that will do the appropriate paperwork to copyright your music for you? Google brings up alot of service companies like this and I just don't wanna get screwed so checking to see if any of the experienced here know the best one. Thanks!

You might just want to do it yourself through
http://www.copyright.gov/

Or the composers Guild in the UK have a library (I think)

Hey, it'll be a cinch to copyright stuff now. If you click on to the link above that undread gives (sorry too lazy to copy and paste myself) you'll see that the copyright office is offering a price reduction if you're willing to volunteer for their beta-testing. The beta-test involves sending your music to them DIGITALLY, i.e. mp3 just like here at musicforte. It's a cool, smooth 35 buckaroos for a single recording or a compilation...most of us can manage that, right? It's well worth it. Check it out!

Okay, I'll be nice: http://www.copyright.gov/
and click on: beta-test

Oh, I have 3 songs I uploaded to my page last week. I was fooling around with some free download recording software...wanted to check it out first. My songs still need a lot of polishing, but for a test run, eh, not too terribly shabby? I'd love some feedback!

There is some software out there that will allow you to place a digital watermark on your audio.

In most instances it goes unheard, and can be used to prove the ownership and timestamp of an audio file.

However, this is more fore file swapping protection. It wouldn't be so helpful if somebody discarded the file and claimed they wrote the song.

Just do it yourself, it's VERY easy. You can even copyright an entire album for just one fee... check out the us copyright website.
