vocal modulator

Postby rianface » Sat Jul 04, 2009 1:22 am

ok. so if anyone has garageband for mac, and has played around with it some, ive got a question for you. there is a feature called "vocal transformer" under "effects">"garageband effects" for real instruments. one of the features is changing the pitch, you can bring it from -2400c to +2400c. 1200c being one octave.

the other feature just says "sound" and you can move it from low to high. the pitch or note wont change at all, but the voice will sound higher or deeper than its original form.

If that made any sense, im wondering: is there anything like that offered as realtime hardware? I would love something like that to play around with live.

thanks for pondering.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the garageband software, but your question made sense to me. Hopefully someone who knows the answer will pop in here sooner or later. Thanks,

There are a few companies that have been developing vocal effects processors for stage use. I'm not a singer so the best advice I can give is to walk into a local Sam Ash or Guitar Center type of place that has separate departments and try some of the gear out until you find something you're happy with.
You can also check with MusiciansFriend.com and see if they have something from Digitech or Alesis.
Hope that helped,
Peace

Didn't Kanye use a vocal modulator here... or was that something else?
