The Ultimate CodeThese days, almost every music site is offering their snippet of code that you cut and paste on to your own website.

It’s really cool, because it gives you a chance to stream media directly from your site without having to be an expert in flash technology or any other programming languages.

It’s pretty standard to allow you to choose the skin or color scheme of your media player, and to allow only samples of the songs.  Music Forte provides these features, but we also take it a HUGE step further by not taking one cent of the digital sales. If you don’t want to sell mp3 files, then you can point the "purchase" link to your CD sales pages.

The Music Forte "code" is that cool! All you need is a PayPal account.

Oh geez… I hope that is not the sound of a deafening silence.  Alright, so some of you may have an issue with PayPal.  Let me explain what you might not know, and hopefully this will change your mind.

Here are some of the objections I’ve heard:

  • I don’t live in the US, so I can’t use PayPal. Chances are that you probably can.  PayPal is offered in over 190 countries.  To verify if you can use PayPal, take a look here: http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-approved-signup-countries-outside
  • PayPal takes all the money.  Why would I use it on a 99 cent purchase? That question needs to be addressed in a few ways.  First, I have to say that I wouldn’t use PayPal for a 99 cent purchase, because they do have a minimum charge, which I think is somewhere near 40 cents.  One purchase would leave you with roughly 50 or 60 cents.  But who says, you’re only going to sell one song? Furthermore, who made the 99 cent rule?  At Music Forte you can give each song it’s own unique price.  If you do not set a price for a song, it will default to 99 cents.  But that’s not all.  When customers reach your sales page, they are presented with the option of adding more of your songs to their cart.  So if they grab 5 songs, you may still be charged the minimum transaction by PayPal, but anything beyond that is very minimal.
  • Why do I have to sign up for one program to take advantage of this service?  Oooh.  To be honest, I don’t think anyone is really asking that question.  But if you are, I can tell you to relax.  Both of these services are free to join.  The only charge you’ll find is the small transaction that PayPal will apply when a sale is made.

I’d love to go on, but it’s just that easy!  Simply log into your account, and view your profile page.  Right above the media player, you’ll find a link from where you can copy the code. Enjoy!
