Succeeding in the music industry is not easy. No matter what genre of music you pursue, there is an abundance of competitive talent. Erik Haddad has taken a direction that many of the artists at Music Forte have not. With only his computer and some mid-level music software, Erik is able to write and produce Production Music that is at the top of it’s league. Don’t let the fact that the music is composed from home fool you. Many artists today are producing their CDs from their own home studios and achieving an accomplished sound that exceeds the output of live studio.
Over the past several years, Erik became more and more intrigued with composing and producing music, and at this point it is not uncommon for him to spend around 30+ hours a week solely devoted to the craft. His growing catalogue of music is now at around 400 cues, and he also makes hundreds of looping music segments from main tracks. You’ll find nearly every possible genre in his list: dramatic orchestral, world/ethnic, children’s, jazz, pop, and much more.
"The competition in the production music industry is extremely heavy," says Erik. "You have to be able to output a ton of material, it has to sound good, and it has be something that is usable in different production mediums."
Erik has a handful of distributors (called "Production Music Libraries") that license his music for use in everything from websites, to DVD’s, to TV and Film. Do a Google search for "production music" and you’ll get a sense of how vast the subject is, and the role it plays in the music industry. Think of all the places you hear music, such as advertisements, DVD menu screens, toys, TV shows, etc , and most likely a Music Library played a role in providing the music.
If you have the skills and motivation to pursue the production music industry, you’ll be opening the doors to a huge variety of opportunities you probably didn’t even know existed!
