Born in Laurens South Carolina John comes from a very musical background. Growing up his father was a self taught musician playing the piano guitar, saxophone, and trumpet. Watching his father inspired John to learn the piano and work on song writing. During his school years he performed all over the south appearing and competing in talent shows and showcases. He received the coveted Cora Cox Lucas Vocal Scholarship Award to attend a juniors eight week course at the prestigious Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester Virginia and after that...college.
While attending Newberry College John pledged Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America; a professional music fraternity. Upon graduating college as a Voice major with special emphasis in Performance John ventured to southern California where he joined a local band. Over the next few years John shared the stage with such legendary acts as The Whispers Billy Vera and the Beaters Bruce Willis, Cameo, Curtis Blow, Najee, Bobby Womack, Shirley Murdock, Cris Kristopherson, Cool and the Gang Rick James, Kenny G, as well as Zapp featuring Roger Troutman just to name a few.
John has appeared on several college circuits and television interviews. He has also appeared as a featured extra in the Paramount Pictures release "We Were Soldiers" staring Mel Gibson and Sam Elliott. In September 2001 he was interviewed by Tony Perkins of "Good Morning America" while performing at the Ramada Express Hotel and Casino in Laughlin Nevada.
When not performing locally or nationally John teaches and shape singers to reach their highest level. His educational formation helps students gain the best use of their voice bringing forth a singing voice with beauty power, control, dynamics, and above all else...emotion. His students are both professional and amateur gracing stages on the local and national scene. He prides himself on treating all of his clients; whether professional celebrity singers and entertainers or regular ordinary citizens with courtesy discretion, and professional respect.
Currently John works specifically with professional level singers or those preparing for a professional career in the music and entertainment industry.
