About firebird999

It is no secret that people in the music industry are infatuated with labels.
They want to neatly classify different types of music  putting all of it in
little  organized folders somewhere on a musical shelf. California's Akiko,
however  is an artist who would drive all of these label-crazed people up the
wall. A native of Japan  Akiko is quickly developing a reputation as one of the
West Coast's most interesting performers by offering something new and
innovative to audiences who are accustomed to the sometimes formulaic brand of
today's popular music.

Akiko  located in San Diego  wants to be defined by her unique view of both life
and music. She is inspired by the beauty that she finds in everyday life: "I am
moved by the many elements of nature  such as the wind from the ocean  the blue
sky, the stars, and the moon." This appreciation of nature works its way into
her music and lyrics. Her songs have an earthy feel to them  and cause listeners
to feel as though they are somehow floating. Her voice is warm and inviting.
Akiko is aware that her style is hard to define  and is looking forward to more
people discovering something in the music that is "very natural and not in the
usual mold of what is out there."
