Cleonice Caprecie *******My Message******* By day I'm a public school Music Director/Teacher in Southern California. By night I'm a musician, composer, and producer. Even though my music is dance, house and rock, my lyrics carry a message to those who will listen. *******My Music******* I was born to be a musician and am a trained professional percussionist (drummer) with a B.A. and teaching credentials in music. I've always enjoyed the beat the rhythm of dance music so when all the electronic stuff and MIDI came out it was only natural I'd get into it. I started buying professional recording equipment and composing my own music. But the sound doesn't come down from heaven. You have to do tons of research hours learning how to use your gear. Once I did all the instruments I learned as a kid plus being a percussionist helped me to create music. Now by shaping lines, blending tones and bending notes, I can give my music tension aggression or sensitivity. The accents you put on the rhythm makes it groove harder and that's what makes this music come alive. To me writing in the studio and using a mixing board is like painting with electric current. Those little knobs are my paint brushes and the magnetic sound particles on the tape my canvas. Each one of those particles has to be colored and balanced to create the sound you want. But you have to be careful not to muddy the mix or flood it out with too much high low or medium EQ. Just twisting one of these knobs or paint brushes, 10% right or left can make a huge difference in the quality of sound. There are no solid answers waiting for you. You just have to get in there and do it. It took 9 years to get my studio together and to learn how to use my equipment. But now when I sit down at my decks I can crank out songs just like I hear them in my head and that is fun. It's like being a race car stuck on full throttle with 24-digital tracks to play with.
