Hektic began his career as an MC 2 years ago after years of persuasion from his younger brother. After writing a few tracks he began performing live - utilizing Open MIC Nights in and around Adelaide. He quickly gained support from enthusiastic crowds with his energetic performances and personal insight prevalent in his songwriting. Relating to an Australian upbringing his lyrics reflect a more tranquil way of life as opposed to the gangster themes generally explored in American rap.
Encouraged by the support from his live performances Hektic produced and recorded his debut EP Decypher the Rhyme releasing it independently through his own label Hektic Records. It comprised of 4 original songs included 3 he’d been performing live. The last song was written as a thank you to the support he’d received from the organizers and supporters of the Open MIC nights.
Decypher the Rhyme surpassed sales expectations creating a stir in the depths of the Adelaide scene. As his reputation spread Hektic was added to a number of shows including Lyrical Canvas and the 4 Elementz Hip Hop Show (which also featured The Decptikonz Kool Keith and Kutmasta Kurt).
In March 2005 Hektic relocated to the sunny shores of the Gold Coast to get away for a bit. While there he began writing tracks for his debut LP Ameliorate. He has since returned to Adelaide where he is currently promoting his album.
In April 2006 Hektic’s first single Leaving was picked up by Hip Hop Mania [101.5 Radio Adelaide] and Cut City [92.7 Fresh FM]. It has been getting regular rotation and garnering positive response.
