Music Biography
Rhubee Neale born in Alice Springs NT currently living in Sydney NSW. Her heritage is Aboriginal (Anmatyerre /Arrernte) and Irish. Continuing in the tradition of story telling through her Music and Art.
All through her childhood Rhubee Neale dreamt of becoming a singing. The dream stemmed from listening to her family singing both country music and her mother Anmatyerre language and Legendry performers artists Charlie Pride Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Slim Dusty and many more on the radio. In her teens Rhubee Neale then Sue Gibson would perform at the Westies Country Music Club in Alice Springs along side Warren H. William Uncle Gus William and other local artists. Although music has always been Rhubee Neale passion for a period of her music was all but ambers held in her heart until she came to Sydney and her passion ignited the flames have been shining brightly with her dream unfolding before he eyes. Rhubee Neale graduated with a Diploma of Music from the EORA TAFE College in Chippendale Sydney.
Rhubee main instrument is her voice however she has recently discovered Guitar and a passion for writing lyrics her songs and lyrics of stories close to her heart about her homeland country and peoples. Rhubee loves singing Country Blues & Folk, with musical influences such as Pasty Cline Dolly Parton, Skeeter Davis, Connie Frances, Carpenters, Seekers, Slim Dusty, Kev Carmody, Archie Roach, Paul Kelly and local.
Rhubee Co writes with friends such as singer songwriter: Kenneth Smith Tim Bishop and Zac Lambert. She also co writes with he beloved family Sister Letty Scott and Nephew Nathan Scott. Rhubee Neale aka Sue Gibson is a Registered APRA songwriter.
Rhubee Neale has been active in the Sydney music scene since 2004 performing at community events such as International Women’s Day World Indigenous peoples Day Community Centres, NAIDOC Sydney, Redfern Community Centre market day Vic on the Park singer songwriter night Sutherland Folk Club, Eastside Artists in Paddington Dreaming Festival Queensland White board Segment within at the 2006 the Deadlys Awards Community Choir 2007 Telstra ATIS Staff awards within the Redfern Community Centre “Block Harmony?Choir Alice Springs Desert Festival September 2007. Rhubee has also Gallery opening such as Chetachyre Enterprise exhibition at Gig Gallery Art Galley NSW, “The Harp?in Tempe Songwriters night “The Friend in Hand?songwriters night. Sandringham Newtown in “Songs From A Bar?songwriting showcase and competitions. The group along with other students of the Eora College played at the Marrickville Festival 2005. “The voice from the village Festival held sponsored South Sydney Herald by Rhubee Neale and Kenneth Smith performed on the 23rd at Redfern Town Hall along side Jimmy Little Little Sammy, Joseph Tawadros, Terry Olsen and 24th September at St Saviours Anglican Church 177 Young St Redfern alongside the Legendary Icons as Jimmy Little and the Angels Band Mic Conway, James Henry etc. the MC for the day was ABC James Valentine was master of ceremonies. Redfern Town Hall; Elders Xmas Party and NAIDOC Elders Dinner. Abercrombie Caf?in Chippendale schools and at TAFE NSW Colleges: Granville Eora - Petersham and Ultimo. Performing with various Sydney artists. Rhubee and her band Members Kenneth Smith Zac Lambert and Nathan Scott who also performs with band on occasion.
Rhubee as an Independent performing and visual artists is currently managing her group. Rhubee Neale was finalist is a Huston Texas songwriting competition. “Song Of The Year”” ?for Kenneth Smith and her song “Travelled So Far?which was produced and recorded by Tania Bowra at the Redfern Community Centre ?City of Sydney Council Studio which was track 12 on their complication CD “The best of the Block 2005?
Rhubee Neale songs are currently aired on Koori Radio Sydney 8ccc Alice Springs. Rhubee is an occasional guest artist on Koori Radio’s Koori Kountry Konnection program hosted by Georgie Kookaburra and had been interviewed by various Koori programs once of which was Blackchat also featured in the koori Mail Alice Springs News, South Sydney Herald Newspapers.
Rhubee recoded her first demo in 2004 called Goin to Waterloo co written with Tim Bishop as Sydney based Signer songwriter which the performed at the New Year Concert at Redfern Oval in 2005. Rhubee have was as and extra in the UK comedy “Supernova? Eora TAFE short films and her current feature role as Dusty in Rowena Lawrie short film “Blind?
Rhubee Neale and the band sponsored by Yeperinya Shopping Centre for travel to perform at the Alice Springs Desert Festival on the 15th of September 2007.
Rhubee aspirations are to have her songs performed by many artists in many different languages worldwide to become a household name to obtain funds to record an album then tour interstate and overseas in the future and to collaborate with others to write a musical and play incorporating Rhubee’s original songs.
