I was born Blanches Annabell Wright on November 15th 1984 in Newark New Jersey but moved to Brooklyn New York a year after I was born. New York is where I currently resided and call home. I grew up around music so it was no surprise I wanted to pursue a career in music. I grew up listening to my mother and father old records and as I got older I started listening to hip hop; I loved every minute of it. I remember the very first rap song I learned the words to it was “rappers delight” by the sugerhill gang. It was such a cool song but that wasn’t the moment I started rapping. It took awhile for me to become interested in rapping. But I’m going to tell you the story of my musical journey.
In Elementary I think it was third grade; yeah it was the third grade because my teacher Ms. Jenseen got us into writing and I loved it. Writing stories became a passion for me and I loved ever minute of it. Making up Characters and bringing them to life. So all through elementary I kept writing my stories and at first I was ashamed to let my teachers read them until one day I left my notebook in class and my fifth grade read them. He loved them and told me I had a real talent for writing stories. By the time I got to junior high school I had decided to become a writer. I had written so many short stories by the time I was in eighth grade.
But when I got to high school the thrill of writing stories had worn off and I was looking for a new passion. In 8th grade I remember I liked drawing and I loved art class so I took up drawing well mostly graffiti, tagging up walls, desks, doors and anything I could write on. But art was really something I wanted to pursue. I mean still did the occasional graffiti writing here and there but it was just for fun. 9th grade I got into poetry writing and reading. It was a good way for me to express my feeling. Ilka Scobie my poetry teacher she loved my writing and she was trying to encourage me to become a writer. But I was like no I try to see myself as author but it wasn’t for me. Then I met this guy named Kenny Jones who loved music with a passion and he taught me how to dance and to make beats. I don’t know but the stuff I was making at first sounded corny to me but he liked it. We worked closely together as partners. He sparked a flame in me and its name was music because from that day I knew I wanted to peruse a career in music but as a producer. Then he had an idea to start a band but that idea soon fell.
But music was apart of me and I felt alive when I talk about music. But it was hard to find other people who share the same vision as me which was to make music everybody can enjoy. Then I met this kid named Beloveit Williams I thought we shared the same vision but I was wrong. We started a rap group named “Brooklyn Be Killers” or “BBK” for short but to me it felt like a waste of time. So I dropped that sh*** and started something new a production company, “The Golden Child Productions” where I download some beats for limewire from another production company named “Deeper Era Productions” but it got me no where so I left it alone and ditched the company. But I started a new company “Fresh2Death Productions” but I didn’t know how to run a company so it failed on me. I was feeling like maybe music isn’t for me. When I met this guy named Rodney West or better known as “DJ Hustle & Flow” he taught me how to write my rhymes better and how to say them better too. Me and him worked closely together and we started a record label named “Hustle Hard Entertainment” then later changed it to “Hustle Hard Records” but it didn’t matter the name because it was a failure from the started.
I was depressed. My music career was looking like a graveyard and I hating it. The fact that I wasn’t being heard. So I gave up on music for a couple of years. But it seems to always be on my mind no matter what I did. So I decided to give music another try so I starting writing again trying to save up some money to buy some recording equipment I bought a four track cassette recorder and low quality mic that’s how I recorded my stuff for awhile until I could afford more. But I couldn’t shake the feeling of failure off me. So I thought make if I changed my name I can start a new. So I changed my name I went from “young chaos: the golden child” to “kaos: ad baby face kid” but still no one listened to me I was getting disused left and right by artists promoters and even fans. So once again I stopped recording and threw the recorder and mic in the closet.
But it was music I couldn’t escape. Music I couldn’t hide from. I knew it was my calling. So I kept writing and writing. I bought my first audio interface and recording my first song “Bring ‘Em Out” still using the name “Koas da Babyface Kid.” But the song did nothing. So I sat back and analyze my rap career changed my name from “kaos da babyface kid” to “AMillion Ways” and started a new chapter in my career. Browsing through soundclick looking for beats I can across this song titled “shot to the heart” by this guy named the kid Kyle. So I copied some of his lyrics and changed it up a little and recorded it myself and put it on myspace and from that song AMillion Ways was born. I recorded another track a remix to Musiq Solchild’s song “B.U.D.D.Y.” and the hits just came rolling. But then some hater came and trying to cramp my style so I feel like I do get back at them with the track “Walk it Out” and people loved the track. After that track I decided not to make any more diss track and I wrote a conscience track titled “daydream” it came with a positive message. But after those tracks AMillion Ways got writers’ block. So I close my notebooks for awhile until something came to me. While browsing through soundclick I found this kid named Klumzii and I listen to this tracks but I thought he was kinda wack as a emcee but his rap idol was Jin so you can see why he’s corny but anyways back to me, I had this theory I could copy his songs and make them better. So I did and people started really taking notice to me and my music and I was finally get the exposure I always wanted.
I loved the attention my music was bringing and I felt like my music was finally going right and on January 1st 2007 I started my own production company named “4Real Soundz Productions” where I make beats and its still going strong. With all the exposure I was getting DJ June of Fifth Krown Entertainment took an interest in me and wanted to sign me to his label so I sign with fifth krown entertainment and release the remix to “Cry Me A River” and people took notice to my skills as a emcee. But with success comes pain because the ceo of fifth krown entertainment was arrested and sent to prison and label slowly fell apart. But no matter I was still getting exposure even as a free agent. I shopped around for new record label but nobody who would take me on as an artist. So I started feeling the pain of failure once more. But I continued to make music. Slowly I stated to feel like a loser because rappers like Soulja Boy and Hurricane Chris can get major deals and I can even get an indie deal. So feeling like this wasn’t for me like music really wasn’t my calling I unplug all my equipment and delete all my music accounts and gave up on music.
Will AMillion Ways ever return to the game? That’s what the front of rhyme book read. Month after month I thought about music. Couldn’t think about nothing else but music. So I plug back in my equipment and dusted off my low quality mic and said to myself I can’t give up on my dreams I just got to try harder and keep practicing because anybody can do music its how much of your heart and soul you put in it. So with that said I got back to the plan to make music no matter if a record label was or wasn’t behind me. Music is something I want to pursue. So AMillion Ways is back with a new attitude no more jacking other people lyrics and using them as my own. So look out world because the new AMillion Ways is coming back stronger and harder, so if you like my songs it cool and if you don’t like my songs it cool too. I’m still keep doing this because this is what I love. |
