As bass player the 70's NY hard rock icons Dream Bill Timpano has graced the stages of some of New York's most infamous clubs: The Mud Club CBGB's, Max's Kansas City, My Father's Place. Dream enjoyed local success in a time when punk was in its infancy. The Ramones Blondie, Television still had not broken through yet. On any night in NY you could walk into a club and catch one of these bands. The music scene was changing history was being written and Dream was right in the middle of it! After a long hiatus Bill was drawn back to the music but this time writing music for personal reasons. In time Bill committed himself more deeply to writing. The idea of pursuing a professional career in music only occurred to him after thumbing through an issue of American Songwriter where he came across an invitation for readers to enter the American Song Festival. On an impulse he submitted two songs both of which quickly garnered acclaim for lyric writing from the Festival. Inspired Bill wrote and recorded more material composing rock and pop music that strikes a chord and resonates with the listener. Drawing on diverse influences ranging from rock pop, Motown, country, hip hop & R&B Bill's music speaks for itself. In the end it's his instinctive love of music that drives Bill through a life filled with many diverse activities as a musician songwriter, motor sports enthusiast, husband and father. Always a global thinker Bill is looking forward to expanding his talents further into international markets where opportunities abound for songwriters who can adapt to a myriad of tastes. Yet even now his motivation is as personal as it was when he first tentatively tried his hand at putting words and music to tape. |
