ChrisTref records new CD
The new CD by ChrisTref is called "Paradox" and is released in April 2008 on Olympian Records.
Paradox is move to a whole new level and direction for Chris and is written and produced with English producer Phil Dye.
The album is being recorded in Russia and the UK and features guest musicians from around the around the world.
The Paradox
They say that a paradox is a statement that contradicts itself. So it is with ChrisTref. For Chris is focussed yet also compassionate gentle yet strong, funny but at the same time deadly serious about her work. ChrisTref is walking Paradox.
ChrisTref up close
The first thing that strikes you about ChrisTref is the intensity of her gaze and the dedication to her music. Chris comes from a part of Russia few westerners have even heard of let alone visited.
Chris was born in the Old Believer's village of Ust-Tcilma in the northern region of Komi close to the Artic circle. A region of 24 daylight in summer and 24 hour darkness in winter. Where temperatures swing from 35c in summer to -40c in winter. A place where human breath freezes and every home has a store of wood to make it through till spring. From this remarkable and amazing place comes ChrisTref.
Chris has a unique talent but her early upbringing keeps her attitude to life simple and grounded. She will tell you that music is her passion but that the really important things are her family and her friends. This sets her apart from the rest.
The Silent Witness
The capacity of her songs to connect with audiences around the world is breathtaking. From the her home in the Komi Republic in the Russian Federation her music has found an enthusiastic international audience which continues to grow by the minute.
The secret of this continued success is due to way her songs strike a chord with the audience. Chris is a great watcher and listener as all truly great songwriters have to be. Chris is the silent witness.
Early Origins
ChrisTref comes from the Old believer's villiage of Ust-Tcilma Komi, in the Russian Republic. The “Old believers” is a christian faith numbering fewer than 10,000 world wide. As Chris rightly says “It's very rare, like me!” The faith was the first Christian religion in Russia after paganism.
Childhood and music
Chris began school aged five. In Russia this was very rare as the normal age was seven!
An indication maybe, of how advanced Chris was. At six she wrote verses and when she read them to her parents or other adults, they didn't believe that she had composed them all by herself as they were so advanced for someone so young. But as Chris says..”....Please don't ask me to remember them now – I was only six!..”
The “White Crow” – the warrior spirit
At school they called Chris the "White Crow". Because she was always fighting with boys! In other cultures “White Crow” was a name given to a famous American Indian leader.
To this day Chris has retained that warrrior spirit inside her. You can see it in her eyes and sense it in her spirit. Chris' great grandfather was a Cossack horseman. So Chris has a rich heritage of honour tradition , pride and bravery that goes back generations! Chris will tell you she wants to save the world from itself...One things is for sure...not much is beyond ChrisTref.
