Born in New Bedford Massachusetts, Roy Barboza had a passion for music at a very early age. Roy was born creatively ambitious getting his first pair of tech-12 turntables at the age of fourteen while break dancing in the streets of Boston. He gave up his dream of being an athlete to pursue his love of music and to set out to be the best hip hop DJ in town. Yet Roy Barboza’s skills go far beyond the turntables. DJ Roy Barboza is by far the most recognizable name in Boston radio. With a decade of mixing hip hop reggae and R&b under his belt Roy has earned his title as the most unstoppable most relied upon to rock a party and the most dynamic DJ in Boston. "Every time I perform I want to rock the club I want to kill it! I spin from my heart and soul. I want them to feel me feeling the music. That’s the only way I do it."
Currently the name Roy Barboza is discernible to both the hip hop community and the general public largely due to Roy’s being in the media spotlight at JAM’N 94.5. Roy Barboza is so popular that he currently broadcasts live every Friday night from Boston in Toronto Canada on 89.5 CIUT’s “Project Bounce.”
Roy has also become the most heavily demanded hip hop DJ by many and has spun for some of the greatest hip hop artists and tours. He has mixed for the Dr Dre/Eminem "Up In Smoke" tour and spun for hip hop greats LL Cool J Eve and 50 Cent. Roy has also appeared several times on BET and is presently collaberating with rap artist Nas.
Roy's latest CD "Cornerstone Mixtape #68-Nas Street's Disciples Edition" features some of the hottest classics such as Live at the BBQ Nas Is Like, If I ruled The World & One Mic takes you on a journey back thru time as we pay homage to one of the most innovative and creative MCs. His other productions include "Reggaeton" with his crew the "45 Crew," the follow up to his mix CD "Big Business Volume 1" hosted by Young Buck. Roy is also a member of Funk Master Flex's elite crew the "Big Dawg Pittbulls," one of the biggest DJ crews in the world.
As for the future beyond being a charismatic and energetic performer Roy intends on expanding his talents with artist development his own production company with the "45 Crew" and to broaden his horizons by working on becoming one of the most well known DJs and producers in the world.
