Bio Of D.W.I
Born March 30 1979 in a town 200 or more miles west of New Orleans called Opelousas La, is a guy known to most as Michael Reed was on a rise. Known to the underground world of hip hop as D.W.I. (Down With I) he’s been on a mission to make it to the top in the rap game since 1994. He started off in the beginning by going club to club getting on the mic and show casing his talent. By 1996 people in Opelousas a town in which the population is about 23,000 and 70% black started really loving his music and was behind his movement. But things wasn’t so sweet he had talent but it was hard in the region he was in for a rapper. Big labels focus on much larger city’s like New Orleans for new talent and didn’t even look towards Southwest Louisiana at the time for talent. So with one foot in the studio and one foot already in the streets he choose to sell drugs with his time away from the mic. The money from the streets kept him on the scene but it also took him off the scene. And in 1999 he was given 7 years hard labor in D.O.C. for three charges of PWID of Marj.,he served 4 years of the seven and was set free on parole in 2003. Coming out of jail focused he dropped his solo album called Get Yall Dollars straight to the streets the same year and people all over Southwest Louisiana started feeling his music and wanting to hear more. So in 2004 he hooked up with Gruv a artist who had already made a mark in Southwest Louisiana with hits like Move the Club and I’m Throwed. Together they put together a album of 22 songs including a verse from Pimp C and a bonus video of a song off of the album and released it in late 04 early 05. People all over from Louisiana to Atlanta got to hear and see what D.W.I. had to say as they traveled from state to state with there product and sold thousands of copys. They even opened shows at the Delta Grand in Opelousas for artist such as T.I. Young Jeezy, Devin The Dude, Geto Boys, Z-RO, Juvenile and at Club 201 in Lafayette Louisiana for Young Buck and many more. It was not long before he followed up in 2005 with a solo mixtape called I’m A Beast which was mixed by DJ Dolby D a DJ for UGK one of the best DJ’s in the south. The mixtape was a classic with some of the best tracks that was out in 05-06. D.W.I. showed that he has the drive to be successful in this game. He is currently in the studio working on his new album This Is Thug Life Not Rap an album lots of people can’t wait to hear. It includes tracks from Gamebeno a producer who have done tracks for some of the top artist in the game u can check him out at Myspace.com/Beatmobb. The album also has tracks from Pint a young producer on a rise who is making a name for himself underground. And to top it off he went out and got a verse from Vicious a very hot artist who been in the game and just signed with UGK Records this year. U can hear more about D.W.I. at Myspace.com/dacompanyikeep or just stay tuned to the streets and the world of hip hop because he’s on a rise in the game. He’s a loyal person real humble and hungry for success he puts his all into every line he writes and says. Hopefully he can be picked up by a major or get a distribution deal.
