The band broke into the local scene with tremendous force in the summer of 2004 and began touring the United States soon after. Composed of four well versed and highly experienced musicians from several other successful bands Field of Grey knew its goals were attainable in a short amount of time and they set out to accomplish everyone of those goals.
After signing with the indie label Level 3 Records in June 2005 their debut release WARNING was recorded in November of 2005 and has already shown significant album sales worldwide and a briskly growing fan base as well. The band chose multi-platinum producer Scott Spelbring (Jason Mraz SR-71, Plunge, and The Speaks) of Dragonfly East Studios to put his magic touch on the record and in less than a month the 12 song record was complete after a myriad of 14 to 16 hour day sessions. WARNING was then sent off to Grammy winner Jay Frigoletto (Shinedown Oasis, INXS) for mastering and is currently being pushed to radio by Randy Sadd (The Black Crowes Josh Joplin Group, Shawn Mullins, Tag Team) of Protocol Entertainment.
The band's ever growing and dedicated fan base has become such an integral part of the band's repertoire that a drink was created by a fan and dubbed The American Beauty in honor of their first release. American Beauty the drink and first release have already infected numerous venues throughout the country. The band's philosophy on fans "We don’t have fans we have friends all over the world who just happen to like our music" has proven to be a formula for success in such that the members are in constant contact with the fans through their websites and Instant Messages. This ritual has lead to a loyalty unseen in a band of this degree. Fans are known to drive from as far as four states away to catch Field of Grey live.
The members of Field of Grey have each enjoyed success in their own right in several avenues of the entertainment industry.
Lead Vocalist Blackie Starks, fronted World Empire Records recording artists and his previous band Karma. With Karma he had several songs in full rotation across the United States and opened for several big name bands such as Nickelback Filter, Default, Our Lady Peace, and headlined the Baltimore Ravens Stadium for 98 Rock's Big Night Baltimore with Jimmie's Chicken Shack . Blackie toured up and down the East Coast with his first professional band called Dime Store Indian promoting their full length record titled Wooden Nickels. Blackie also has film credits to his name as an extra in the Robin Williams film Patch Adams and a small speaking role in an independent film called Whisper. Blackie also has a song featured on a NASCAR DVD Adrenaline Volume 1, called Faster. This was the main title track and accompanied the opening and closing credits.
Lead Guitarist J.P. worked the L.A. scene for several years where he played in a band with Macy Gray. His band Storyteller, was under contract with Don Arden Management and shared the stage with greats such as Guns and Roses Warrant, Poison and more. Shortly thereafter he began touring the globe as a hired gun with Joyce Meyers often playing to world dignitaries and crowds of 30,000 or more.
Bassist Robert Lloyd is a veteran first call studio session player in St. Louis involved with numerous recordings and commercials and has recorded with platinum selling Pavlov's Dog. He’s also shared the stage with bands like Testament Slayer and Tesla. He’s toured extensively through 18 countries anywhere from Iceland to Bosnia. Robert has musically supported everyone from Bonnie Raitt and the Bangles to Slayer and Poison. Robert has been seen in such films as Killer Diller starring Lucas Black and in theatres now Amphetamine, Inbred Redneck Alien Abduction and Tilt-a-Whirl starring Frank Vincent Casey Siemasko and Dayle Haddon as well as extra work in several other films.
Drummer Da'lee Thomas wrote several songs with Jimmy on the Short Bus and shared the stage with bands like Crossfade and more. He then moved to the Midwest in January of 2005 where he joined and toured the USA in the premiere Motley Crue tribute band Wildside. Wildside shared the stage with numerous classic rock greats like Foghat LA Guns, Dokken, RATT, Judas Priest, Warrant, Kentucky Headhunters, Firehouse, Skid Row and Atomic Punks and would often play to packed houses of 1000+ each night.
One listen to any of the tracks on the record WARNING and the energy and emotion that was poured into the making of it will command your attention not only with masterful song arrangements but clever lyrics that speak clearly to the soul. After hearing WARNING you WILL want to own a piece of Field of Grey and catch up to the band on tour. The band is most notably known for its live shows that are a reminiscent of stadium rock acts of the past oozing with raw energy.
Catch Field of Grey on the road all across the United States in '06 and ’07.
