I am an independent hip-hop and electronic producer based out of Chicago. I am finishing up work on my 6th album of hip hop. It's mainly instrumental but it features outstanding performances by some exciting Midwest rappers such as Rawkus Records artist Krukid a staple in the Illinois hip-hop scene Corn Tha Coon and many others. I have been making music my whole life starting out playing trumpet and drums in school. After 7 or 8 years experience playing trumpet in various local jazz/jam bands around the springfield area i decided to give it up in 1998 to focus on Djing electronic music. I also began teaching myself the art of music production and recording techniques. I learned about various types of synthesis and programming necessary to put together some really "out there" electronic music. I self-produced one EP of acid house in 1999-2000 sent out only to friends but it solidified my love of digital music creation. In 2004 I completed my first IDM album under the name "siriusrising" which was released on the Aleph9 net-label on which another EP is soon to be released. I then began to focus on hip hop production culminating in my debut album as HipGnosis. This album was imaginatively titled "Beats and InstruMENTALS". I followed it up with a new style of experimental hip hop in 2005 on my instrumental album "META". This featured an entirely different approach to composition and production techniques and was well-received by fans. I soon started on a new project called the "Supply & Demand" series consisting of 3 EP's featuring rap vocals by local artists. These EP's reflect the new production techniques used on META but brought it more in tune with commercial hip-hop solidifying the direction i wanted to go with my forthcoming album entitled "Ear Responsibility". Ear Responsibility is a year-long undertaking involving various entities in the Champaign-Urbana region. Some superhuman lyrical abilities combine with jaw-dropping production to create an album that will ring throughout your life. Good things have been said by people of all walks of life about this album of which you can hear several songs in the player. preorders available at http://hipgnosis.gemm.com. I am also involved in a project called Black Magic which can be found at: http://www.myspace.com/23goldenapples. |
