Iesha is the product of a jazz guitarist and a gospel singer. One of 8 children originally from Stockton CA and since she could remember there was always singing through out the house "Just about every one in my family could sing so it wasn't special for you to be able to do it it was weird when some one couldn't" When she was about 9 or 10 she found herself writing a song to one of her mother's gospel records that had an instrumental on it. From then on she wanted to sing. When she was 13 she formed a group she named Mademoiselle "we sang in my middle school talent show and won I couldn't believe it people was standing up out their seats it was wild". From then on her mother would set up these little shows for people to see and hear her daughter sing. She would even set up shows at her job "I remember my mom worked at this burger joint called "Delicious D's" she had us singing on peoples lunch breaks". That group lasted till the end of the school year. She continued to write. When she was about 19 she her sister, and cousin had formed a group called Promise "It was cute; we had a meaning for every letter had it all mapped out how we would explain our name and everything" In doing that she found she was just a little hungrier then they were so that group lasted about 2-3 years. She kept writing. Iesha started to do hooks for local rappers some that were actually trying to do something with there careers and some that were not. Through networking she met some local producers who were willing to take hooks in trade for tracks "I was able to put the songs I had been writing to music. This was it for me a feeling only another artist could identify with". Around this time Iesha met Big Deal who was also in the music business (on the DJing side) he became her manager and still is to this day. They started to work together on projects "we would figure out which ones would be beneficial to me and which ones wouldn't. I found quickly that not every who said they were about real music business were" they ran into a few local production companies that wanted to sign her to slave contracts. This is where Iesha would find out the second reason why she couldn't be in a group "I tended to be the ice cube of the bunch so I seemed to be holding everyone else back cause I would never sign when they wanted to". Now with a manager they started to set up shows at local clubs open mics etc, then started to be requested at clubs to singing before bands. Her manger Big Deal remembers "we would go into to a club to talk to the band or management about gigs and I kid you not singers get intimidated by her. she ain't no star yet but she's a monster and other singers hear that. This would happen all the time" Iesha has her own take on that "people don't want nobody stealing their light so I get it. Anyone who has ever met me knows you could only love me unless you have bad intentions. I'm a big kid when it comes to music. I love it when i hear another artist sangin the hell out of a song but some act like you can't support another artist I say if you got it why you worried". Iesha with Big Deal as her manager decided to do it their selves. Iesha says "the process is definitely longer but I'll bet one gold record that the reward will be that much sweeter"
