‘Punk For The Devil’ has been organised by independent Sydney band Andorra.
Andorra are a creative rock band who take the opportunity to share their music in ways that support causes that matter to them.
In the past two years the band has organized the ‘Sydney Peace Festival’ ‘Rock The Block’ in Redfern Sydney, [to raise money for an Aboriginal children’s dance studio] the ‘Back In Blake’ concert to celebrate the 250th birthday of English poet William Blake and many other similar events that encourage thought music and fun and raise money for things that matter.
Andorra recently organized 15 punks bands to unite to record versions of ‘Do they know it’s Christmas?’ and ‘We Are The World’ with a view to releasing them as good-will charity songs at the end of the year.
The bands have decided to make the songs available for purchase online and to direct the money towards preservation of the Tasmanian Devil.
Andorra lead singer Joel Beasant says: ‘I’m a passionate environmentalist and see the preservation and revival of the Tasmanian devil as the most important ecological concern facing Australia at present. We want to do something to continue to raise awareness and support for the organizations our there treating the animals and researching ways to save them.’
‘Punk For The Devil’ will be available for download as songs and music videos through the ‘music forte’ website.
