Hello Justin,
altho not a great fan of raw C&W, my own music has been influenced by country music. My earliest memories of listening to records were my parents’ Sons of the Pioneers record “Tumbling Tumbleweeds” and “Cool Clear Water”, as well as an album, I think it was the very first 33rpm LP we owned, of Jimmy Rogers. Of course there was a version of “Shenendoah” on it. I have not heard anyone since sing it, but your version, “Rebel’s Lament” is true to the song and a fantastic listening experience. The feel of the song and the guitar work are matched by a powerfully emotive vocal that sent shivers down my spine. but there were a couple of verses missing, I was really waiting for that rasping voice to ring out “Shenendoah, I love your daughter”, and it didn’t come. that was the only downside to a great track.
great work Justin.
