Jack Johnson, Weezer, Beck and Dave Matthews Band...
One listener described them as "if Jack Johnson got raped in the ass by a Rock God and then shat out an illegitimate child who raps", |

Kuai Zi were formed out of necessity from the Beijing live music scene. Front man Skott Taylor and lead guitarist Mike/Noah met in 2003 while living in China and have since then been playing their unique style of Blues Rock Hip Hop across the world. Skott and Mike/Noah first met and started playing acoustic sets at the only Open Mic in Beijing which Skott founded and hosted. Soon after they were playing their infectious original songs to a packed house of which most were singing along. Coming to the realization that their music had become bigger than the acoustic duo had planned the pair set off to London UK to find the missing members and take their music to the next level.
Upon arriving in London Skott and Mike/Noah set off to establish themselves on the London Open Mic circuit playing as much and as often as they could in hopes of meeting any potential new band mates. In time they met up with an old Beijing friend Gilo “DJ DMT” Cheney who was more than up for throwing down some bass lines and filling out the sound. Through Gilo Ric Nash was introduced and the final piece to the Kuai Zi puzzle was found. Ric who is a student at London’s S.O.A.S. University also has ties to China having spent a year studying in China’s capital.
Drawing from a number of influences and musical methods ranging from Rock to Blues to Jazz to Hip Hop Kuai Zi has a style that’s hard to nail down. They have been compared to the likes of Jack Johnson Weezer, Beck and Dave Matthews Band with hints of Hip Hop lyricism but definitely have a style of their own.
From their grassroots of extensive live performance Kuai Zi has proven that they are more than able to hold down a set with their highly creative and energetic show all the while keeping the crown on their feet.
