Lady Bird is the coming together of sister’s Lani Motiekaitis (Guitar Bass & Vocals) and Sheri Motiekaitis (Guitar Bass & Vocals) along with Brent Quirk (Drums + Percussion).
The Motiekaitis lounge room has been littered with amps and pianos for as long as they can remember. Lani and Sheri have been jamming since they were young and LadyBird and their debut self title 'Mini Album' is the result.
Lady Bird a sibling duo that can be compared to the sounds of The Waifs duo Donna and Vikki their sound is dynamic and showcases each sisters individual talent their live performance is hypnotising with Lani and Sheri sharing the playing of bass guitar and lead vocals. Their contrasting vocal styles create harmonies that make the soul melt even though they have played together so closely for years their sound influences and styles are quiet different.
Lady Bird has played locally to Queensland and Northern News South Wales audiences for the past 5 years but is now looking forward to developing a nation wide audience. LadyBird has played with some great artists includeing JJJ next crop artist Melanie Horsenell JJJ unearthed winners The Daisy Cutters and James Grehan an local queensland acts Melaine George and Sol & Wynter.
Each member of LadyBird studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music which is where they were able to record their debut self titled 'Mini Album'. The release of the album was made possible by being successful in recieving a Regional Arts Development Grant (The Regional Arts Development Fund is a Queensland Government and Gold Coast City Council partnership to support local arts and culture) LadyBird aims to launch each of the sisters into the music arena with each sister having their own styles that they wish to persue so keep an eye out for their side projects soon but we can promise you this won't be the only release these Swiss/American/Australian sisters produce.
