 About Lucy Bland
 About

The bands name might be Lucy Bland  but their music is anything but. Hailing from the rain capital of the country  Seattle,  Washington,  they let the rain inspire their music rather than drown them out. Seattle is so intimately connected to water  its influence seeps into every aspect of life. We channel those long winters  the rainy days,  and the ocean into our music. The band describes their self sound as indie with a splash of folktronic. Never heard of folktronic; never believed it could ever be combined with indie? All you have to do is give Lucy Bland a listen and all the burning questions in your heart will be answered. In songs like Brown Sky the band combines the lyrical qualities of indie with the beats of electronic. The result is a lush combination of genres that creates a world and keeps the listener hooked.

Sound

Their music tends toward the introspective  but never self indulgent. They believe  Music is a mirrored reflection of the self. Songs are snapshots and portraits of moments in time. The bands job  therefore,  is to,  Create a fabric of sound that portrays these moments  tells these stories,  with each instrument weaving a color into the picture.

Inspiration

Lucy Blands rainy day inspired music has been noticed by the likes of music review site  South of Mainstream who said  with the vocals of Cat Biell surrounded by some cello  guitar,  and keyboard,  the music just seems to flow so easily. It is perfect for that quiet evening or lazy afternoon. Enjoy. After an in-studio performance at Seattle based radio station  KEXP,  DJ Sean Nelson said  That was so good I almost think speaking would be a disgrace.

Current Projects

Always looking for inspiration and writing new music  the band will be recording their first full length album scheduled to be released in the fall of 2006. Their debut EP  Lucy Blands First Recital is currently available on iTunes and CDBaby.

Hi Cat

What you may have missed!

Just added "When Death Divides" I wrote this song after losing my Aunty Bet. I loved her very much and she was the closest to me, closer than my own mother. She was a very special person.

Also you might not have heard "I Want You Back"

I hope you like the darker songs so far, from "Where do I Go?" I have featured

"Nothing Goes As Planned" a song about living with poverty and the confusion, the human struggle to survive.

"Man With A Gun" Gave me a lot of positive feedback to which is probably my darkest song yet.

This weeks song is "Always Be The One" which deals with the frustration of keeping your loved one knowing that you do love her."

If you haven't had a chance to listen please do. Next week will feature the last of the songs from "Where Do I Go? as in September I will be featuring songs from the album "Time" which will be available to buy on CD from the middle of next month.

Best wishes
John
