A New York City/New Jersey performer and New York native Matty Z’s music is a modern cocktail of classic blues folk, jazz, and rock ingredients. A solo artist and gifted guitar player Matty writes songs about the underdog—the common man in the shadow of the vast and not so common expanse of modern society—and has been described by JZ audio engineer (Twilight Singers Von Bondies) as an artist who “gives his honest stories in a not so honest world over head nodding guitar rock and infectious grooves.”
In the recent past Matty Z has played lead guitar and mandolin as a sideman in regional and national bands affording him the opportunity to play the CMJ Festival at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland OH, to share the stage with ‘50’s pop icons Herman Hermits and to appear with national folk acts at such legendary venues as Club Passim in Cambridge,MA.
2006 marks a turning point in Matty’s career as he will not only be credited for his fluid guitar solos and tasty licks on upcoming releases from singer-songwriters Carrie Engdahl Edgar, and Brian Fitzpatrick, but will also be serving up plenty of solo shows and guest appearances around the New York City/Metropolitan area.
Matty’s long-awaited solo debut “Cadence Finds Company”, hits stores at the end of 2006. Pour yourself a tall glass of this refreshing offering and see if the world doesn’t seem just a bit more manageable when you’re done
