Politics - VERY liberal.
(see the "About me" section directly across from this section on the other side of this page)...
General Philosophy -
Occam's razor...I know that a tree falling in the forest certainly DOES make a sound, even if no one is there to hear it!...Why, sure it does. Sound is a waveform that travels through matter. Although it is commonly associated in air, sound will readily travel through many materials such as water and steel. Some insulating materials absorb much of the sound waves, preventing the waves from penetrating the material. But whenever an object in air vibrates, it causes compression waves in the air. These waves move away from the object as sound. Our ears are receptors...The event of a tree falling most definitely produces a sound. Compression waves move through the air, etc. It's just that the curious and philosophically-inclined inquisitor's natural audio receptors aren't there to receive the waves...simple, no?
...*ahem* but seriously folks... Otherwise, there are lots of tenets to my philosophy of life and reality, or at least, to what I perceive as reality. It's a difficult task to sum them up on a 3x5 index card. ...For instance; I agree with the subtle meaning to the Shakespearean statement; "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." But I come back with the question/answer; "Yes, but are they unknowable?" I believe in the power of knowledge and in the capability of the ever-evolving human brain to detect and discover new complexities, and [through science] to figure things out. I believe that through the hard core factual evidence, evolution and science present a far more complex, an entirely more wonderful, and a vastly more beautiful picture of the universe--in which we and all things have come to be and are contained therein--than any religious contrivance could ever hope to describe. And the most beautiful thing about scientific reasoning is that it is not static [as is religion]. It is open...it presents an ever-changing, always unfolding story which continually adds to the beauty! I don't know about you, but I'm sticking around for as long as I can to see how it all pans out!...There's more, but we'll leave it there while I'm still thoroughly boring you...
