Monsoon Season plays rock seasoned with heavy doses from The American Songbook. By melding elements of jazz americana and r and b Monsoon Season covers a vast stylistic ground while remaining tuneful and melodic.
Formed in 2002 by multi-instrumentalists Sam Potter (vocals guitar, mandolin, melodica, harmonica) and Aaron Hubbard (guitar keyboards, programming), the band has toured extensively in support of it's 2006 debut EP The Last Commute. A six-song collection of moody jazz pop the songs feature Potter's smooth vocal stylings Hubbard's intricate arrangements, all anchored by the sturdy rhythms of drummer Nate Child and bassist Matt Conlin.
The band is currently in the studio preparing their sophomore follow-up a full length LP due out by early 2008. With songs dabbling in new musical directions such as Bacharat-esque pop Americana and a heavy dose of gritty rock and roll the album looks to expand the band's electic sound even further.
