Versify is:
1. To change from prose into metrical form.
2. To treat or tell in verse.
3. To write verses.
4. A Collaborative effort between the American rapper Doctor Oscify from Fort Collins Colorado and the German beat producer Ulliversal, of Hamburg, to form the ultimate hip hop power house.
. Ulliversal and Doctor Oscify began working together in mid 2005 collaborating on various songs demos, and other poorly concieved ideas. For the next 6 months they began releasing various songs over the internet and with feedback from the fine members of Hip-Hop Directory they began honing their craft to meticulous perfection.
. Inevitably this prolific explosion of high quality uncompromised hip-hop songs began to attract attention in the direction of the new group. In late fall 2005 the duo was approached by G1 the president of the acclaimed independent label New Ground Collabo, and to their surprise she asked if they would be willing to release an LP through the label. Although they had never considered releasing a joint album the two happily agreed and decided to call the project Versify combining the names of the founders. They immediately began work on this new and infinitely more serious project working to create something the world of underground hip-hop had never heard before.
. With additional contributions from such hip-hop heavyweights as KRS One Skimp Killah, The Secondary (a.k.a. Diverge & Ethix) Stan Blade, and others, Versify worked feverishly and finished writing recording, mixing, and mastering within 6 months. The album was done with an entirely DIY aesthetic with all but the final mastering and artwork being completed in house. In fact all but the guest vocal recordings were made in Doctor Oscify's college dorm room.
. With the help of noted German graphic artist Folstar, and the expedience of G1 all loose ends were tied up by May 2006 and it was time for the real work to begin.
