Who is The Rikshaw? The name 'Rikshaw' comes from the Japanese hand cart called a jinrikisha. It symbolizes the struggle of man to have the weight of the world on his back. This is of course, not to say that the artist himself carries the weight of the world but that mankind in general must endure it. Truly living life is about endurance and strength. In the pursuit of life as a whole, The Rikshaw continues to strive to find his place in the world of music entertainment. Always fascinated with Japanese philosophy he has worked hard on becoming disciplined in all that he does. Zen philosophy teaches us to appreciate every aspect of life... even the smallest of things become a large part of life as a whole. There is an old Zen saying that comes to mind... "The Foolish reject what they see; the Wise reject what they think." Empathy toward humanity as a whole is about keeping an open mind to new ideas. The Rikshaw dares to be different. The Rikshaw (Tony Lipari) was born in New York and moved to Florida in his younger years. He is East coast all the way though his message is universal. Music has been one of the center points of The Rikshaws life. During his high school years he caught the bug to entertain. Just one stage performance would change him forever. It was this moment that has helped fuel The Rikshaw to reach for his dreams and ambitions. So what does The Rikshaw sound like? The diversity of The Rikshaw's music melds together many different aspects of the musical spectrum. Perhaps for example, imagine Jay-Z with a hint of Led Zeppelin or maybe even Eminem with a sliver of Aerosmith. He has tried to take a little from each of his favorite genres and interweave them to create something fresh. The Rikshaw is not your ordinary run-of-the-mill rap artist. Many of todays rappers fill their music with profanity images of violence, sex, guns, drugs, and materialism. Rap is poetry in motion. So why not make that poetry mean something? Why not make people think? Music should be fun but words should stimulate your mind. We should be able to have both and that is exactly what you get with The Rikshaw. The Rikshaw pushes messages of fighting for what you want in life making things happen for yourself and never giving up. Ladies and Gentlemen I introduce to you...The Rikshaw. |
