It’s always begun with heart and not being afraid of launching new things. Not quitting has been the key of keeping focus and staying on top of the competition.
Black Boy Entertainment was founded in 2000 by Houston (3rd Ward) Texas native Pernell “Dot” Lancaster known at that time as “P”. Black Boy launched in 2001 signing their first act LaDandy “Lil’ Dan” Sneed known today as Blessed Child street hip-hop rapper turned spiritual rapper. The streets did not take Black Boy Records serious in the beginning because they had no recording studio. In the fall of 2002 that will soon change when Black Boy begun to grow production wise and recording freestyle's helped Pernell develop his skills on the mix board. Black Boy was established in 2003 Pernell music executive turn label head signed his first major acts D-NI and Rhino” who quickly begun recording their
debut group album called “Game Related”. Not understanding the releasing
process Pernell did not release album so to break the ice Black Boy Records released a mix tape called “The Flow Vol.1”. Which was basically a freestyle album with different flavors of acts showcasing their talents and now Black Boy message to the streets was this label has real talent on the hottest material splitting fire.
In 2004 Black Boy CEO and A&R executive signed the lyrical genius Dra-Ko who brought that incredible drive to become and being able to making the hottest music and help Dot and his Black Boy empire become one of best labels of all time. Immediately Dra-Ko begin recording his untitled release while at the same time co-producing an mix tape album called “Da New Era Volume 1” hosting the entire Black Boy Family. The feedback from this mix tape was alright even thought a 1,000 units was all we sold in 5 weeks Black Boy was beginning to build a fan base and acts all over want to become apart of this future legendary record company. Black Boy has the right CEO in operation with the potential of taking this company somewhere special.
Now the future has Black Boy Entertainment written all over it releasing this fall an compilation album “THE REVIEW :: THE END OF CHAPTER ONE”
featuring Black Boy hottest rappers to ever touch the booth in this time and maybe ever to touch the booth. Only the consumers and the streets could determine Black Boy greatness as well as our future in the industry. |
