Rocking since the late ’70s in venues ranging from the Orlando Naval Training Center to juvenile detention facilities (along with the obligatory appearances at Holiday Inn lounges) Richard Valentine Tuttell has played a variety of musical styles many of which are reflected in his songwriting.
After playing rhythm and lead guitar for a number of cover bands (including one gig backing up the late Frank “Crazy Guggenheim” Fontaine – famous for his rendition of White Christmas on the Jackie Gleason show) he returned to his acoustic guitar and piano folk/rock roots with a touch here and there of southern-fried rock ’n roll.
A native of New York who grew up in Central Florida Tuttell relocated in the early ’90s to the Foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and now makes his home in Marion N.C.
Recently, he opened for songwriter Jon Ims (She’s in Love With the Boy) at the Down Home in Johnson City Tenn. and performed at the Bristol Tenn. Roots and Rhythm Festival as part of the Boone Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI).
