Influences
|
I've never thought of anything or anyone being a direct influence on my music, since I listen to everything from classical to classic rock...but I suppose that indirectly, I was influenced by everything I ever listened to and tried to create my own unique style..., |

Sounds Like
|
I can't say who I sound like as much as what I sound like...at least on the Winter's Emptiness CD...when I set out to record my first truly solo CD, I thought I could have some fun with it, but, although I enjoyed it for the most part, it was alot of hard work and an emotional experience...as you will hear, the songs are deeply revealing and somewhat dark...they blend acoustic and electric with strong vocals and warm harmonies... they are rock for the most part, not too hard, not too soft...as one "label" person told me, my songs can't be pigeon-holed...maybe The Strawbs at times or even the Moody Blues...then again, maybe not...or the newer groups who do their best to emulate the great groups of the past...as John Maven of Music Connection wrote, "Winter's Emptiness is the journey into a man's soul through the eyes of winter"., |

Fantastic stuff! Some of the coolest stuff that has come into my station in a while. Looking forward to hearing more from you. I am playing "You're Gone" and "I See A Light" at http://www.mansiononthehill.biz
Keep up the great work!
Deborah Wassel FM Program Director/WFRD 99Rock
Very interesting beginning; it makes me think of something almost medieval. I really like that I can hear the voice clearly; a lot of recordings don't get the mixing right but I think you hit the nail on the head here. The lyrics are nicely done and I actually pay attention to them. I also enjoy how the drumming is subtle and underrated; it's a nice touch. I'd love to hear more from you - it's a great start...

Good guitar work. Interesting voice. Can't put my finger on it but your voice reminds me of someone. Good production work. If you want to get more commercial airplay I would cut the airtime from 4:30 to under 4. Although I really do love the "extended" versions but to fit in the world of commercial radio now you need: 1. Catchy Lyrics - Check 2. Good Voice - Check 3. Shorter songs - (Under Review) Good work and good luck with your project!!

The songs that really made me feel and think the most were those of Jerald Wolf. His first solo CD entitled "Winter's Emptiness" is an emotional journey of heart-felt songs that are deeply thoughtful and a well textured mix of acoustic and electric. The first song I listened to was "You're Gone". I was immediately taken in by the descriptive words and hypnotic tune. The opening lines are:
"Last night when I called you you were gone; Gone back to a place you once called home. You went trying to find the pieces of yesterday's life; Trying to find somewhere to call your own."
From that point I clung to every word. Jerald Wolf has a diverse and rich voice full of emotional colors. The twelve song CD "Winter's Emptiness" is the emerging of a new songwriter/poet. The songs are as poetical as they are raw and sometimes cold. A great CD in all respects.
John Maven: Inside Indie Music
"another reincarnation...Jerald Wolf's new solo CD is an acoustic/electric gem...sometimes haunting at times cold and raw and at others insightful. A very different CD that will keep the listener riveted...Winter's Emptiness is a journey into a mans' soul through the eyes of winter..." |
