Singer, Writer, Recording Artist, Producer Wendy Alane Wright had her first record deal at 23 with the Dutch female rap group Def La Desh. Their first single FEEL THE RHYTHM reached #21 on the Netherlands Top 40 and appears on numerous compilation CDs. The music video aired on MTV VH1 and BET. Wendy recorded lead vocals for their TWO TMIN CD released in 1992. After performing in Europe and the USA with Def La Desh for three years Wendy released a solo dance single UNFORGIVEN on the Polydor label which reached #30 in the Netherlands Top 40 Dance Charts.
Wendy also wrote FEEL GOOD and lent her vocals to the track along with Croatian/Dutch star Tatjana Simic. The song co-produced by Wright reached #25 on the Netherland Top 50 charts went Platinum in Scandinavia and appears on numerous compilation CDs. With commercial success brought a demand for Wendys vocals on numerous projects she was asked by Candy Dulfer to do backing vocals she recorded a song with Bold and the Beautiful star Jeff Trachta called YOUNG GIRLS next came two tracks on Tony Scotts CD Chameleon LOVE DONT LIVE HERE ANYMORE and WE ARE HERE TO PLAY Wendy recorded a cover of Crystal Waters 100% PURE LOVE for Arcade compilations another dance single NOW SING IT on the RCA label which was a hit in Spain and Greece.
In 1997 she returned to the USA and recorded another song titled FEEL THE RHYTHM for Groove Nation Records/Universal which became an LA club hit. Wendy performed at clubs all over LA to promote the song was offered a record deal by the president of MCA and the deal fell through upon his replacement. In 1999 Wright did 4 commercials for Verizon and quickly discovered what mailbox money was she started a live band called Billys Night Out which performed R&B and Blues all over Los Angeles. From 2000-2003 Wendy performed backing vocals for numerous artists including Billie Myers CD Vertigo Solomon Burke CD Definition of Soul sang onstage with Johnny Lang after the Grammys in LA Wayne Brady in Florida and opened for the Four Tops and Rose Royce.
Wendy Alane Wright was asked to join Art Deco and His Society Orchestra one of the premiere orchestras in the country she performed from 2001 -2003 at numerous high profile events including before royalty at the Beverly Hills Bizantine Investiture of Royalty in Orange County on a bill with Tony Award winner Nell Carter where Gregory Hines received a Lifetime Achievement in the Arts award at the John Anson Ford Ampitheatre in Los Angeles in A Night At The Cocoanut Grove and in Night at the Macambo a fundraiser for Orphanages in Mexico hosted by Edwards James Olmos and Raquel Welch among numerous other events.
Wright recorded her first solo CD AS I AM in Amsterdam and Los Angeles. It was recently released digitally in January 2007. It is a CD of beautiful tender ballads. The title track As I Am was written by Grammy nominee Allan Rich who wrote Run To You for Whitney Houston and I Dont Have The Heart for James Ingram.
Steven Cahill musical director of the television show Touched By Angel contributed JUST A MIRACLE co-written by Carol Hall (Best Little Whorehouse In Texas) This is a powerful tune that Wendy stunningly delivers with only a piano accompaniment. It is sure to bring tears to your eyes. Netherlands Jazz master Rolf Delfos plays saxophone on Maybe This Time and Johan Rovenstruck plays piano on the jazz track MEANT TO BE TOGETHER a song written by Wendy and reminiscent of any tune on Anita Bakers Compositions CD. The track is currently receiving internet radio play and is in the Top 5 on Musicforte.
