i think there are too many things wrong in this world and too many people ignore it or don't care... i can't stand for that. my aim in the dance music world is to mix the political with it... i don't see a lot of political involvement when it comes to dance music... i see more escapism than anything... i strongly disagree with that and strive to change it. as a result i will always mix the political with my music... as harsh as some of it may be and as angry as you may get with me...
but, when you think about what some people do to others and the people who do these things and then think about those who merely expose it... who do you think you should more angry at?

Ive been making music for a little more than eight years. I started writing on my korg N364... piano stuff mostly kinda like unconventional score with drums and bass and strings and bagpipe-wanna-be leads. I do want that stuff to eventually reach the surface of the abyss that is x_e_n_ but maybe not for a bit. That is where I started and I am thankful for those days because without that I wouldnt have some of the skill that I have today.
I originally wanted to make dance music. But the fact that that keyboard isnt really built to make the kind of dance music that I wanted to make... I had to compromise and that's what came out of me. Like I mentioned Im thankful for that because I learned how to play the piano by myself and I also learned how to improvise with a piano instead of just a guitar which is what I was playing before that and still do today. I love jamming along to TOOL rage, nin, pantera, and other shit. The only dance track that I made strictly on that synth is called 'the beauty of you'... eventually Ill go back to that and update it.
Then I discovered 'shareware'... I downloaded 'Hammerhead' which is strictly a drum machine that came with a couple of drum sounds which you could add distortion to or reverse. You could also add your own samples. I would spend hours on beats playing with them and manipulating them... I would do little dj-like mixes of just beats and morph them into other beats in real time. You could even render your beats to wave. Its an OLD program really basic, but it taught me A LOT. Thats where I learned how to make beats. For about a year or so I only had that one program so I got really good at making beats. Ill eventually incorporate those beats into new stuff I do I have tons of beats from that program.
Later on early 2000, I was able to get a computer thanks to my friends' help. Eventually I was able to get my hands on a copy of fruity loops and Re-birth and finally started making tracks that werent just beats. The first professional sounding track that I made using some sounds from my korg and fruity loops is called 'flight'. That will also see the surface of the abyss because I really like that track... it was the track that really made me feel like I could really do something with dance music. I learned fruity loops pretty well and felt like it was time to move on to something better.
A couple of years later (10-20-02 to be exact) I was finally able to get Reason. And that completely reshaped what I was doing. It took a little while for me to transition from fruity loops to reason but once I got it... it opened up alot of possibilities for me. And now reason is my main writing instrument. Everything that I have produced since understanding reason lives in reason. The first thing I made with reason was '123' which is the beginnings to what now is NO HANDLE (nameless). MAX POWERS eventually followed along with Chat Noir featuring demented tone (which will also see the surface sometime).
Now Im constantly writing, working on a live set-up and waiting to see what the next thing that will open more possibilities to what x_e_n_ is will be... maybe more hardware definitely need more hardware.
